The sun-dappled hallways of Westover buzzed with a unique, electric energy. In the latter days of May, was the Colonial PreSchool, Pre-Kindergarten Clap Out, a milestone moment filled with proud certificates, oversized smiles, and a few tender tears. On either side of the corridor stood the "grandfriends"—local seniors and grandparents who had spent the year reading, crafting, and bonding with these literal beginners.Led by their teachers, the little graduates marched out in a proud, single-file line. Their footsteps were small, but their spirits were monumental. Instantly, the hallway erupted into a symphony of rhythmic applause, cheers, and joyous cheers.High-fives were exchanged between tiny hands and wrinkled, loving palms. One little boy stopped to give his favorite reading partner a fierce, knee-high hug, causing a wave of "awws" to ripple through the crowd. This moment was the beautiful culmination of ’s intergenerational program. It was a bridge built across decades, proving that joy speaks the exact same language, whether you are five or eighty-five.As the graduates reached the end of the hall, ready to step into the big world of Kindergarten, they looked back. The grandfriends were still clapping, their faces illuminated with pride. It wasn't just a graduation; it was a shared core memory for two generations woven together by love.
