It’s the largest donation of its kind — and it could reshape animal health research.

The University of California, Davis announced a historic $120 million gift to its School of Veterinary Medicine, marking the biggest single donation ever made to veterinary medicine. The funding will support expanded facilities, AI-enabled veterinary care, and advanced research into diseases that affect both animals and humans.
University leaders say the investment is expected to strengthen prevention, treatment, and scientific collaboration across species for years to come.

A BIG shout out to these wonderful ladies who started their Memorial Day weekend at the Bitter Root Humane Association doing full exams, baths, nail trims, and ear cleaning on more than 30 dogs recently seized by the authorities. Special thanks to Jessie of Muddy Paws Grooming who shouldered the bathing component. 🐾🐶. It took about 4 hours, but these ladies got it done.

Rattlesnake Avoidance Training for Dogs

Each year in the United States, 150,000 dogs are bitten by venomous snakes.

Aversion training can help keep your dog safe from snakebite. We use live defanged snakes and 20 years of snake avoidance training experience to help protect your dog from rattlesnakes.

We offer rattlesnake avoidance training, by appointment, at our kennel outside of Roundup, Montana. All breeds welcome. Puppies should be at least a year old.

Call, text, or DM today to schedule an appointment.

Available by appointment now through September 30th.

THANK YOU ALL for your understanding of our sudden closure. From the Ravalli County Sherriff’s office: ANIMAL NEGLECT INVESTIGATION. The Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office recently conducted an animal neglect investigation at a residence in the Corvallis area. As a result of the investigation, multiple animals were seized and placed into protective care at our local Bitterroot Humane Association and the Humane Society of Western Montana in Missoula and The Wings Program locally.  Eighty seven animals were seized to include dogs, cats, rats, and livestock.

The investigation was initiated following reports of suspected neglect. Deputies, along with assistance from Bitter Root Humane Association (BRHA), Humane Society of Western Montana (HSWM) and The Wings Program conducted a search warrant and safely removed multiple animals from the property. The animals are currently receiving veterinary evaluation and care.

Due to multiple animals filling their shelters, the BRHA and HSWM are currently unable to intake local animals and are open by appointment only.

This investigation remains ongoing, and potential criminal charges are being reviewed in consultation with the Ravalli County Attorney’s Office. As this is an active investigation, the BRHA, HSWM and The Wings Program are currently unable to adopt any of the animals in protective care

The Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the assisting humane agencies and community members who helped ensure the safety and welfare of the animals involved.

We are often asked if dogs need a rabies vaccine. The answer is YES or at the very least we want to know if they have a protective titer level by doing a blood test. You’ll notice that the news title says this is the FIRST positive case… meaning we absolutely expect there will be more throughout the year. Ravalli County often has numerous positive rabies cases annually. Is your dog current? Give your us a call.

Flathead County health officials report the first rabies-positive bat of 2026 after a residential exposure and urge residents to avoid contact with bats, vaccinate pets, and follow safety guidance.
