It's DAISY Day!

Congratulations to McKinnah Sparks, Kettering Health Miamisburg's DAISY Award winner. McKinnah was nominated by a patient's wife who shares that since her husband's open-heart surgery in August, he's had "one setback after another," but that McKinnah brought a "ray of hope to what seemed like a hopeless situation."

The nomination also calls out McKinnah's professionalism and skill.

"It seemed to me that she had been in the field of nursing for a long time, so I asked her about her career path. When she told me that she was hired in January to work at [Kettering Health Miamisburg], I was surprised in a sense because I would have thought she had many years of experience," the nomination says. "She's an eager learner!"

Today, we announced that Knox Community Hospital, a 99-bed hospital located in Mount Vernon, Ohio, about 45 minutes north of Columbus, signed a definitive agreement to join Kettering Health.

Just months after returning to Kettering Health as a clinical oncology pharmacist, Annie Weckesser has received one of Ohio’s top honors for pharmacy residents.

“I was very honored to find out that a group of preceptors from Ohio State nominated me for the award. Among a group of very talented pharmacy residents, it was heartwarming to know that I was nominated," Annie said.

Welcome, Madison Selby, APRN-CNP, to Kettering Health Medical Group General Surgery!

Madison "Maddie" Selby is a nurse practitioner working and specializing in general surgery. Madison sees patients in Washington Township and is currently accepting new patients.

Maddie knew that she wanted to become a nurse practitioner even before becoming a nurse. She always wanted to provide the best care possible for others. Being a nurse was one of the things she was most proud of. And now, being a nurse practitioner, she knows she can continue the journey of helping others in any way she can.

Outside of patient care, Maddie enjoys spending time with her spouse and her dog, riding on her Peloton, making sourdough, and reading books.

It's Sunflower Day!

Congratulations to Charles Campbell, Kettering Health Miamisburg's Sunflower Award winner! Charles works in patient access and was nominated by a coworker for always putting patients first.

"He was sitting with a disabled patient, helping said patient eat while waiting for transportation. He was being so nice and welcoming, you would have thought he and the patient knew each other for years," the nomination says.

"I feel that it was because of Rayna's quick assessment, clear communication, and dedication to her patients that resulted in saving this woman's life," the nomination says.

In 2021, Kurt Hildebrant saw a urologist for issues with his prostate. He wasn’t sure what the problem could be, but further examination revealed cancer in both his prostate and bladder.

It was a diagnosis that Kurt knew all too well. This time, there was no question—Kurt would get expert care close to home at Kettering Health.

“They’ve been fantastic,” Kurt says. “It’s a great place.”

Kurt Hildebrant knows that Kettering Health is the right place for him to get the care he needs for his cancer treatment.

Kettering Health Dayton celebrates its 100th anniversary this year!

It can be hard to understand the impact a hospital has on a community over the course of a century, so we did some anniversary math. In 2025 alone, we had:

🏥 309 new employees
🏥 139 resident doctors
🏥 70 volunteers
🏥 44,803 patients seen in the emergency department

Now multiply all these numbers by 100! While we don't know the exact totals for the century, imagining it this way helps us understand just how essential Kettering Health Dayton has been!

Welcome, Annie Sanders, PA-C, to Kettering Health Medical Group Cancer Care!

Annie Sanders, PA-C, is a physician assistant working in cancer care with special interests in patient education, mental health, and menopause management. Annie sees patients in Kettering and is currently accepting new patients.

Annie originally started her career as a radiology technologist. During her time in that role, she saw so many people who were wounded, injured, sick, etc., and was not able to provide them with much help. While her job as a radiology technologist was very fulfilling, she realized that she wanted to be more involved in patient care than she was, which led her down the path to becoming a physician assistant.

Outside of patient care, Annie enjoys going to the zoo, spending time with her four pets (a dog and three cats), reading, and laying in her hammock.
