95 years old, nearly 500 songs, and a lifetime of love for music. 🎹💛

Meet Lou Newman, a resident at StoryPoint Carmel whose piano playing brings a little extra joy to her neighbors every day!

Whether she's welcoming visitors with a familiar tune, accompanying the resident choir, or playing a song that takes someone back to a special moment, Lou knows just how powerful music can be.

“People stop by the piano every day, they say, ‘I was so down this morning, but when I heard your music, it made me happy.’ So, how can you not play?”

🎶Rock Around the Clock at Our October Birthday Party! 🎂

Our October birthday celebration was a rockin’ good time! We dusted off the records for a vinyl record sock hop featuring the sounds of the 1950s, a few spooky-season favorites, and plenty of group dance songs that got everyone in the spirit! Some of our residents even dressed up in their best ’50s attire. 🕺💃 The music and theme brought back fond memories of sock hop days gone by, and one resident even brought in a photo of himself and his wife from their own sock hop days to share with everyone! What a sweet trip down memory lane! ❤️

Our dear friend Mike was the star of the show, spinning the tunes, sharing a few jokes, and even singing alongside our very own resident Edna! As if that wasn’t enough, Mike brought a homemade pineapple upside-down cake to add an extra sweet touch to the traditional birthday cake generously donated by Megan at Rose Hill- he also brought beautiful roses to hand out to each of our October birthday honorees! 🌹🍍

A heartfelt THANK YOU to Mike and his son Rocky for helping make the afternoon so special, and to Megan at Rose Hill for her thoughtful cake donation. Your kindness helps us celebrate our residents in such memorable ways!

🌽🫘 In honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, our artists explored the Three Sisters—corn, beans, and squash, traditional companion crops that sustain and support one another—as inspiration for a colorful corn and bean mosaic!

Some artists followed the pattern, others forged their own creative paths, and a few became so wonderfully absorbed in thoughtfully arranging each piece that their designs are still works in progress! 💛

Just like the Three Sisters, each creation reminds us that there is beauty in the way different elements come together, each contributing something unique to the whole. Today, we celebrate Indigenous traditions, creativity, and the wisdom passed down through generations. 🌿

🌻 Growing Toward the Sun at StoryPoint 🌻

There’s something especially beautiful about a field of sunflowers in the fall. Tall, brilliant, and impossible to overlook, sunflowers have a remarkable way of turning toward the light -following the sun throughout the day.

At our Fall Sunflower Social Tea Party, we celebrated that same spirit of vibrant, thriving life here at StoryPoint. Like sunflowers, our residents continue to grow, brighten the lives of those around them, and turn toward the moments that bring them joy. 🌻

Our afternoon was filled with beautiful blooms, delicious tea, sweet treats, wonderful conversation, and plenty of sunshine -both on the tables and in the room.

Because thriving isn’t about standing still. It’s about continuing to reach toward the light, finding beauty in every season, and blooming wherever life plants you. 💛

Special thanks goes to our Life Enrichment Lead; Chris for continuing to host the most thoughtfully planned teas for our residents each month and a big congratulations on reaching her 3 year anniversary as a member of our team recently as well!

It’s a Thursday in September and that means it’s almost time for Friday Night Lights!! 🏈Tonight we had the great pleasure in fueling up these hungry Hamilton High School athletes and wishing them luck in tomorrow evening’s Football game! We had a great time with this incredible group of kind and gracious young men! A HUGE thank you to John & our friends at Raising Cane's C1091 🐓for helping us make this football team so happy!! Let’s Go BIG Blue!!! 🏈 💙

🍂 FALLing in Love with Autumn! 🍂

There’s something about this time of year that makes our community come alive in a whole new way. From cozy crafts and nostalgic memories to games, laughter and a little scarecrow magic, we’ve been embracing everything we love about fall!

🍁 We welcomed the season with our Fall Split Wood Bead Wreath and transformed our community with beautiful autumn décor.

🎃 Our Memory Care Fall Fest brought plenty of seasonal fun, smiles and festive memories.

📚 At our monthly Memory Café, we took a trip down memory lane with School Daze! From old school traditions to yearbook photos, we shared stories, laughter and plenty of pictures- Do you recognize any of the year book photos? 📸

🎲 We kicked off our first Partners in Play: Small Group Game Night, gathering around the tables for Boggle, Sorry!, Trivial Pursuit and Skip-Bo. Different games, different groups, lots of friendly competition!

🌾 And finally, our Second-Hand Group Scarecrow Building Workshop proved that a little creativity—and a LOT of stuffing—can bring almost anything to life! With pantyhose, thrift-store clothing and plenty of imagination, we created two life-size scarecrows ready to welcome the season.

From decorating to reminiscing, playing to creating, we’re finding plenty of reasons to FALL in love with autumn at StoryPoint! 🍂❤️

Some places are known for their food—and Snows Lakeside Tavern is certainly known for its famous fish logs and hot slaw! 🐟

But we think it’s even better known as a place for good friends to come together for great conversation, and the kind of lunch that leaves you smiling long after the last bite. ❤️

We had a wonderful time enjoying delicious food, plenty of laughs, and even better company. Here’s to good food, good friends, and making memories around the table! 🥂

🌴🕶️ Tacky Tourist Day! 🗺️📸

We took a vacation from reality for Tacky Tourist Day during Assisted Living Week! From colorful shirts and oversized sunglasses to f***y packs and fabulous vacation vibes, our residents and team members fully embraced the theme! ☀️🌺

And what better way to celebrate than with a visit from our good friends at Tikiz Of Cincy and Butler County🍧 Their delicious frozen treats were the perfect way to cool down and enjoy the afternoon.

A huge thank you to Queen City Hospice for graciously sponsoring this special treat for our community! 💙
