As one recently published study put it, laughter might actually be good medicine, and for patients on dialysis a little humor can go a long way.
Patient: Doctor, I keep seeing visions of the future.
Doctor: When did this start?
Patient: Next Tuesday.
Happy International Joke Day from your Innovative Renal Care Team.

“Exposure to very high temperatures during the summer can be more than uncomfortable, it can be dangerous, especially for those with compromised kidney function,” said Dr. Kirk Campbell, President at the National Kidney Foundation. Patients can be more vulnerable to dehydration and heat-related illness when temperatures climb. That does not mean staying locked inside all summer. It’s simple to practice a few summer heat safety precautions, such as staying out of peak heat hours, keeping cool when you can, and following your fluid plan carefully. Talk with your care team about how hot weather might affect your specific situation and summer plans.
