🦆 We Don’t Duck the Symptoms! 💙💚

At Southern Grace Hospice, comfort starts with recognizing changes early. That’s why we use the 5 P’s of Hospice Symptom Management as an easy way to remember important symptoms to watch for:

🧠 Psych — anxiety, agitation & confusion
💙 Pain — discomfort & changes in comfort
🫁 Pulmonary — shortness of breath & breathing changes
🤢 Puke — nausea, vomiting & appetite changes
🚽 Potty — constipation, urinary concerns & bowel/bladder changes

But recognizing symptoms is only part of the equation—you have to be present to catch the change.

With increased visit frequency, low nurse-to-patient ratios, dedicated teams, continuity of care, and daily RN visits for transitioning patients, our team has more opportunities to identify symptoms early and focus on what matters most: comfort, dignity, and quality of life.

The 5 P’s of Hospice Symptom Management are an easy way to remember some of the most common symptoms we watch for in hospice:

🧠 Psych — anxiety, agitation & confusion
💙 Pain — discomfort & pain control
🫁 Pulmonary — shortness of breath, air hunger & secretions
🤢 Puke — nausea, vomiting & appetite changes
🚽 Potty — constipation, urinary concerns & UTIs

But recognizing symptoms means being present enough to catch the change.
