Pregnancy is constantly changing—and so are the needs of your pelvic floor. 🤰

Each trimester brings new physical demands, which means your approach to movement, strength, and recovery should evolve too.

✨ First trimester: Build a strong foundation with breathing, core awareness, and healthy bladder and bowel habits.

✨ Second trimester: Focus on supporting your growing body through strength, posture, and movement strategies.

✨ Third trimester: Prepare for labor by emphasizing pelvic floor relaxation, mobility, and birth preparation.

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is that pelvic floor physical therapy is only for postpartum recovery. In reality, pregnancy is one of the best times to begin! Addressing concerns early can help you stay active, manage discomfort, and feel more prepared for birth and recovery.

💬 Which trimester are you in? Let us know in the comments!

🤍 This month, we’re dedicating our page to all things pregnancy 🤰🏽 —from preparing your body for birth to recovering confidently after delivery.

We had the opportunity to kick off this series by completing an incredible birth workshop last week with Melissa Frane & Bailee West | Pregnancy, Birth, & Postpartum ! Learning alongside passionate birth professionals reinforces what we believe: when families are educated, supported, and empowered, they have the tools to navigate pregnancy and birth with confidence.

As pelvic floor physical therapists, we’re excited to share evidence-based tips throughout the month on topics like:
✨ Preparing your pelvic floor for labor and delivery
✨ Managing common pregnancy aches and pains
✨ Safe movement and exercise during pregnancy
✨ Postpartum recovery
✨ When pelvic floor physical therapy can help before and after birth

Whether you’re newly expecting, nearing your due date, or planning for the future, we hope this series helps you feel informed, supported, and empowered every step of the way.

A huge thank you to Melissa Frane & Bailee West | Pregnancy, Birth, & Postpartum for hosting such a wonderful workshop at our clinic—we’re looking forward to continuing to support our local families together! 💙

💙 Men’s Health Month Spotlight 💙

Pelvic floor physical therapy isn’t just for women—men have pelvic floors too!

Many men silently deal with issues like:
🔹 Urinary leakage or urgency
🔹 Pelvic, groin, or low back pain
🔹 Constipation or bowel dysfunction
🔹 Pain with exercise or prolonged sitting
🔹 Recovery after prostate surgery
🔹 Sexual health concerns related to pelvic floor dysfunction

The good news? These symptoms are common, but they are not something you simply have to live with.

At Pender Pelvic Health, we provide one-on-one, individualized care in a private and supportive environment. Treatment may include hands-on therapy, movement assessment, breathing strategies, core and pelvic floor retraining, and exercises designed to help you return to the activities you enjoy.

This Men’s Health Month, let’s change the conversation. Seeking help is a sign of strength, and your health matters.

📞 Contact our office to learn how pelvic floor physical therapy can help you move better, feel better, and live with confidence.

Another successful diaper bank pickup! 🎉🧷
We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community. ❤️

A clean diaper is something many families struggle to afford, yet it is an essential need for a baby’s health, comfort, and well-being. Diaper insecurity affects families in every community, making donations like these truly meaningful.

We are proud to serve as an official drop-off location for the NC Diaper Bank and to help connect much-needed resources with families across North Carolina. Every package donated helps support parents and caregivers who may be facing difficult circumstances.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our diaper drive. Your kindness makes a real difference, one diaper at a time.

If you’d like to help, diapers of all sizes are always welcome at our clinic. Together, we can support healthier babies, stronger families, and a more caring community.
