We love seeing initiatives that promote understanding, accessibility, and safer community interactions. 💙
The NH Blue Envelope Program is designed to support clearer communication during traffic stops for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and trauma/stress-related disorders.
Thank you to Londonderry Police Department for sharing this important resource.
The Londonderry Police Department would like to help raise awareness about the New Hampshire Blue Envelope Program. This is a voluntary program designed to support safer and more effective communication during traffic stops for drivers who may have Autism Spectrum Disorder or trauma/stress-related disorders.
The Blue Envelope is a simple tool that allows drivers to keep important driving documents together while also optionally sharing communication preferences, sensory considerations, emergency contact information, or notes that may help officers better understand their needs and support clearer communication during traffic stops.
Participation in the program is completely voluntary, and the envelope does not identify or display a specific medical diagnosis.
Blue Envelopes are currently available through New Hampshire DMV locations for eligible individuals. The State is also working to expand access to the program in the near future for additional residents who may benefit from it.
For more information about the Blue Envelope Program or eligibility requirements, please contact the New Hampshire Division of Motor Vehicles.
Together, awareness and understanding help strengthen positive community interactions!
