For the people with questions and judgments…..
First, just because someone looks clean doesn’t mean there’s no buildup on their skin. When I’m scraping and working with my tools, residue comes off. Sometimes it’s black, brown or a combination of things you wouldn’t expect.
And yes, even my cleanest clients can have buildup, especially on areas like the back that don’t always get scrubbed thoroughly. The video speaks for itself!
But hygiene isn’t my only reason. I use tools to protect my hands, reduce repetitive strain and preserve my longevity in this profession. My hands are my livelihood and I’m not about to run them into the ground trying to prove I can work without tools. Your hands aren’t your only tools and the right tools are an extension of them.
I also wear gloves during energy healing. People sweat, cry, blow their noses and have all kinds of normal bodily fluids that come with being human. Sometimes I’m holding hands, working around the ears or supporting someone through an emotional release. I prefer that extra barrier and honestly, I find that gloves help me grip the quantum frequencies better and it doesn’t affect the energy exchange. The gloves are energy and I move energy through them no differently than without them.
And let’s be clear: I wear gloves because I freaking WANT TO. PERIOD. I don’t need to justify my personal preference to anyone.
Every massage therapist has the right to decide what works best for their practice. Some prefer bare hands and others prefer gloves. Clients are entitled to their preferences, too. If you don’t like receiving a massage from someone wearing gloves, that’s okay! Gloves don’t impact massage or bodywork and my work is just as effective as someone who doesn’t wear them. But you’re free to find a therapist who doesn’t. No hard feelings!
My job is to provide effective healing while protecting myself enough to keep doing what I love for YEARS to come.
And wearing gloves has been one of the BEST decisions I’ve made for my business and I’m standing ten toes down on that choice 💯
