During Sarcoma and Bone Cancer Awareness Month, Hampton Proton joins the cancer community in highlighting the impact of these rare cancers and the importance of education, early recognition, and access to advanced treatment options.

This month, we stand with patients, survivors, caregivers, and families affected by bone and sarcoma cancers. Through research and compassionate care, we remain committed to supporting those on their cancer journey.

Yesterday, we were honored to welcome Shane Jacobson, Chief Executive Officer of the American Cancer Society, Kimberly Jackson, Executive Vice President of the Southeast Region, and other executive leaders from the American Cancer Society, alongside Hampton University President Darrell K. Williams, Dr. Neelam Azad, Vice President for Research, Hampton University Trustee Calvin L. Butts, Jr., and fellow leaders from Hampton University to Hampton Proton for an engaging tour and meaningful discussion about the future of cancer care. Hampton Proton executive leadership also joined the visit and discussions.

Conversations centered around our shared missions, strengthening cancer research, and expanding access to care. Following their visit to Hampton Proton, the group continued the day with a tour of Hampton University’s campus, highlighting our collective commitment to innovation, education, and improving outcomes for those affected by cancer.

We are grateful for opportunities to bring together leaders who share a vision of advancing cancer care through collaboration, innovation, research, and a steadfast commitment to the patients and communities we serve.

As Trustee Butts asked, “What if we cured cancer right here?” Yesterday felt like a step in that direction. 💙

This morning, we were proud to welcome members of the Continental Societies to our center for a special behind-the-scenes educational tour and the opportunity to learn more about the innovative work happening right here in our facility.

The men received an Introduction to Proton Therapy and got a behind-the-scenes look at Hampton Proton’s recently renovated Imaging Suite, featuring our MRI and CT Scanner, treatment rooms and gantry, and IBA’s Main Control Room.

A beautiful day, a beautiful garden, and an even more beautiful community. 🌿☀️

Earlier this month, we celebrated the annual reopening of Emma’s Sensory Garden alongside patients, visitors, staff, and our incredible Hampton Proton Ambassadors. It was a lovely afternoon filled with smiles, connection, and appreciation for this special space that brings comfort and joy to so many.

Thank you to everyone who joined us—we can’t wait to make more memories in the garden this season! 💜

On this Juneteenth, we reflect on the ongoing work toward equity.

The Emancipation Oak, still thriving on Hampton University’s campus, made history in 1863, when the first reading of the Emancipation Proclamation in the South took place beneath its limbs—two years before Juneteenth.

Today, we’re honored to grow a piece of that history here at Hampton Proton.

As we care for a sapling of the historic tree, we’re reminded daily that the fight for justice includes the fight for health equity.

We remain committed to ensuring every patient has access to compassionate and cutting-edge care, regardless of background, zip code, or income. 🔔

Last week, students from VCU’s radiography program visited Hampton Proton for a presentation and tour by our Director of Clinical Operations, Erin Erdos, and Lead Radiation Therapist, Ashley Lucento.

The students learned an Introduction to Proton Therapy and got a behind-the-scenes look at Hampton Proton’s recently renovated Imaging Suite, featuring our MRI and CT Scanner, treatment rooms and gantry, and IBA’s Main Control Room.
