More than 4,300 homes in 14 countries, alongside over 100,000 volunteers.
That is what the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project had built by the time he showed up in Nashville with stitches in his forehead.
The week there produced 21 new houses, with more than 1,000 volunteers on site.
Carter said he and Rosalynn would take the porches. That way every one of the 21 homes had something the two of them built.
He wore the same blue volunteer shirt as everyone else, plus a red bandanna.
At 95 he stood out only by his age, and by the bandage over his eye.
How many weeks of your year would you give to strangers?
