People who suffer from acne don’t need criticism, judgment, or solutions they didn’t ask for. Sometimes they simply need kindness. We can all use a little more kindness.

💙Be patient if they need more time getting ready than normal as they may be trying to cover their blemishes or find an outfit that boosts their self-esteem

💙 Don’t point out new breakouts. They already know they’re there.

💙Be understanding if they need to cancel plans bc they aren’t feeling confident. Sometimes ppl just need a mental health day.

💙Respect if they don’t want to take pictures or don’t want a certain picture posted (even if you think it’s a great one).

💙Avoid evaluating and staring at their skin while you’re talking to them. Just look them in the eyes.

💙 Don’t offer unsolicited skincare advice. They’ve probably already tried it anyways.

💙 Listen without immediately trying to “fix” the problem.

💙Don’t say “it’s not that bad” when they’re just expressing how they feel.

💙 Understand that acne treatments take time and progress isn’t always linear.

💙 Compliment things unrelated to their appearance.

💙 DON’T send them this post. Send it to their best friend, their parents or their significant other, but not them. Have compassion and realize that just like you and I, they don’t want their biggest insecurity repeatedly pointed out. A lot of us can hide our insecurities, but this is one that they have to wear daily and they don’t get that luxury. So just be kind 💙
