This past weekend I attended the National Black Midwives Alliance Conference. My heart is full!

I love being a midwife, deep down in my soul!

It was a joy & privilege to convene with such an impressive assembly of Elder, seasoned, newly licensed, student & aspiring black midwives!

We are reclaiming what taken & criminalized, and I look forward to participate in the efforts towards change that we will push forward as an organization.

The point of giving birth with trained professionals is so that if/when complications arise whether in pregnancy, birth, or postpartum, someone is there who is trained to help. Midwives work hard to protect birthing ppls autonomy so that you don’t have to choose against safety just because you want to give birth your way. More access to midwives in our communities means more access to birth with your autonomy prioritized.
