🚨 MIDCOUNTY WATER OUTAGE UPDATE 🚨

TBCD has just issued another update stating water restoration has been moved back to between 6-8:00 pm tonight.

Hankamer Volunteer Fire Department is aware of the ongoing water outage affecting the Midcounty area. Like many of our residents, we are aware that customers are currently without water, and we are actively monitoring the situation.

We understand the inconvenience and concern this may cause, especially for families, businesses, and those with medical or other essential needs.

We will share verified updates and additional information as it becomes available. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to conserve any water they may have available and check on neighbors who may need assistance.

🔥 BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🔥

Our area is currently under a burn ban due to dry conditions and an increased risk of fire. Please help us protect our community by taking the ban seriously.

🚫 While the burn ban is in effect:

Do not burn brush, leaves, trash, or debris.
Do not have campfires or other recreational fires.
Avoid any outdoor activity that could create sparks or ignite dry grass and vegetation.

🔥 It only takes one spark. With dry vegetation and the right wind conditions, a small fire can quickly become a large grass or wildland fire, threatening homes, property, livestock, and first responders.

Please use extra caution with welding, grinding, equipment, vehicles parked in tall grass, chains dragging from trailers, and anything else capable of producing heat or sparks.

If you see a fire or smoke, call 911 immediately.

Help us out by sharing this post and reminding your friends and neighbors that the burn ban is in effect.

*UPDATE*
Crews have left the scene. There will be smoldering in the area for a few days, so please report it to Chambers County only if smoke is excessive or flames are visible. We will be monitoring the conditions.

Crews are working a brush fire behind the vet office on 563. There is heavy smoke in the area and personnel. Please use caution.

UPDATE:
All ones of WB I-10 are back open and crews have cleared the scene.

Inside lane is open. Emergency vehicles are on the outside shoulder/lane and traffic is still thick. Please use caution I-10 WESTBOUND.

Crews are working an MVA at the 818 WB. Inside lane is shut down.

Crews are working a large Matt fire at the Matt company on the I-10 feeder. The feeder is open, but please watch out for emergency vehicles and personnel in the area!

🚨 SCHOOL IS BACK — SLOW DOWN & PAY ATTENTION! 🚌🎒

Our kids are back in school, which means school buses are back on the roads and children are once again waiting at bus stops, crossing streets, and walking along our roadways.

When a school bus stops with its red lights flashing and stop sign extended, YOU STOP. 🛑

It’s not a suggestion. It’s the law.

That few extra seconds you think you’re saving by passing a stopped school bus could change a child’s life — and an entire family’s — forever.

Please:

🛑 STOP for school buses when required.
👀 WATCH carefully for children near bus stops, intersections, and crosswalks.
🚗 SLOW DOWN in school zones and residential areas.
📵 PUT THE PHONE DOWN and pay attention to the road.
⏰ BE PATIENT. Leave a few minutes earlier if you need to.

Children can be excited, distracted, or unpredictable around traffic. As drivers, it is our responsibility to be prepared for them.

A school bus full of children is far more important than getting somewhere a few minutes sooner.

Be alert. Be patient. STOP for the bus. Help make sure every child gets home safely.

***INCIDENT ALERT!***
As of 5:30 am, the westbound feeder is shut all the way down as we work to remove the wreckage. Please continue to use alternate routes.
We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to clear this accident.

As of 4:45am: One lane on the westbound feeder is temporarily open. Traffic is heavy and moving slow through the scene. Please continue to find alternate routes and avoid the area if possible.

Crews are working an overturned semi on the feeder in front of the Matt company around the 812.

The feeder is currently shut down westbound. Please find alternate routes!
