Marion County Services

Marion County Services We provide activities, grants, case management, activities, and payee services for the developmentally disabled citizens in Marion County.

We have public board meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm in our office. Our Mission:
To Increase Choice, Respect, Ability, and Involvement for the Developmentally Disabled Citizens of Marion County. Our Philosophy
“Filling the gaps in service to meet the needs of people with disabilities”
Our primary goal is to find innovative ways to support the families and bolster the inde

pendence of individuals with disabilities. Marion County Services for the Developmentally Disabled has been serving individuals and their families in our local community for over 25 years. Throughout our years of service, we’ve exponentially grown through the demands for needs right here in our own county. Just ask a few of our employees and they’ll tell you exactly how we’re continuing to find innovative health and living support options which foster greater independence. Marion County Services addresses real mental health and wellness needs through a host of time-tested, specialized tools. We provide quality, one-on-one time tailoring a working plan for addressing real support and health needs. MCSDD strives to seamlessly integrate individuals with developmental disabilities into our community. Providing services is one thing, and it is vital, but most importantly, MCSDD encourages fostering self-advocacy: we don’t just give our individuals the proverbial fish for life- we strive to equip them with the tools they need for successfully and catching their own with confidence, too. Marion County Services also helps individuals and their families identify, apply for and obtain health and wellness-based grants which further enable their own self-advocacy and quality of life. Our citizens and neighbors who we enable often need adaptive equipment, help with costs for medical travel so they can obtain the regular, quality help they need, and assistance with every-day living – just to name a few. This is primarily where grant funding we receive is specifically allocated for. Marion County Services for the Developmentally Disabled translates into real, professional enabling of real individuals in our community to continue to receive the quality help they need- this means ensuring quality of life for our neighbors- funds for healthy and fulfilling lives- and the fulfillment of the continuing promise towards tangible equality for every developmentally disabled citizen of Marion County. ❄️ SNOW PROBLEM, NO PROBLEM! ❄️
Winter Preparedness Night — September 24, 2026 | 6:00–8:00 p.m.
We are getting ready for a special “Snow Problem, No Problem” Winter Preparedness Night for the individuals we serve!
During the evening, we will have a fun and educational PowerPoint presentation about staying safe during winter weather, extreme cold, power outages, and other winter emergencies. Our goal is also to send each participant home with their very own Winter Emergency Kit.
❤️ We need your help to make 35 kits! ❤️
We are looking for donations of:
🧤 35 pairs of gloves or mittens
🧦 35 pairs of warm socks
🧢 35 winter hats
🛏️ 35 fleece or emergency blankets
🔥 70–140 hand warmers
🔦 35 flashlights
🔋 Batteries
🩹 35 small first-aid kits
💋 35 lip balms
🤧 35 travel-size tissue packs
🧴 35 hand sanitizers
🧻 35 packages of wet wipes
💧 35 bottles of water
🍪 Individually packaged, shelf-stable snacks
👜 35 reusable tote bags, drawstring bags, or backpacks
🚗 Ice scrapers
✏️ Pens, pencils, crayons, or other writing instruments
🧩 Word search books, crossword puzzle books, Sudoku books, coloring books, or other activity books
🃏 Playing cards and simple card games
🎲 Travel-size games, magnetic games, or other small games that can be played without electricity
❄️ Other small winter emergency, comfort, or safety supplies
The puzzle books, card games, and travel games can help provide something enjoyable to do during a power outage, winter storm, or time spent waiting safely indoors.
You do NOT have to donate 35 of something! If you can donate one item, five items, ten items, or an entire case, we would be incredibly grateful. Every donation gets us a little closer to completing all 35 kits.
💙 Individuals, families, churches, businesses, clubs, and organizations are ALL welcome to donate!
We would also gladly accept gift cards or monetary donations to purchase any supplies we are still missing.
If you or your organization would like to sponsor one item for all 35 kits, that would be wonderful too!
📩 Please message me if you would like to donate, and I can arrange a time for items to be dropped off or picked up.
Thank you for helping us make sure our individuals can say:
❄️ “Snow Problem? NO Problem!” ❄️
Please feel free to SHARE this post and help us spread the word! ❤️
