🌊 Making a Splash? Let’s Keep it Safe! 🌊

Whether you're heading out to the Bighorn River, cooling off at the lake, or floating with friends, water safety keeps summer fun from turning into an emergency.

Before you hit the water, remember these essential safety checks:

🦺 Wear It: Life jackets save lives. Ensure everyone—especially children and weak swimmers—has a properly fitted, Coast Guard-approved life vest.
☀️ Protect Your Skin: Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating.
🚫 Skip the Alcohol: Alcohol impairs balance, coordination, and judgment. Save the drinks for when you're safely back on dry land.

🌾🚜 Harvest Season is Coming: Share the Road Safely! 🚜🌾

It’s that time of year! Our local farmers and ranchers are hard at work, which means you’ll be seeing more large, slow-moving agricultural equipment on Big Horn County roads over the next few weeks.

Let's make sure everyone gets home safely with these quick reminders:

🟠 Be Patient: Farm equipment often travels at speeds under 25 mph. It only takes a few minutes of patience to wait for a safe, legal passing zone.
🟠 Yield Space: Large machinery needs extra room to turn. Don't pull up too close at intersections or try to squeeze past on narrow roads.
🟠 Watch for Flashers: Look out for flashing amber warning lights and the reflective orange "Slow-Moving Vehicle" triangle.

☀️ Beat the Heat, Big Horn County! ☀️

As the July temperatures climb, keeping your body cool and hydrated is our top priority. Heat exhaustion can sneak up fast whether you're working the fields, out on the river, or enjoying a backyard BBQ.

Know the Signs of Heat Exhaustion:

Heavy sweating and muscle cramps

Dizziness or lightheadedness

Headache or nausea

Cool, pale, or clammy skin

What to do: Move to an air-conditioned space, drink water slowly, and cool down with damp cloths.

🚨 When it’s an Emergency: If someone is confused, loses consciousness, or has hot, red, dry skin, call 911 immediately. It could be heat stroke.

Stay safe, look out for your neighbors, and keep that water bottle handy! 💦
