📌 CONSUMER SAFETY ALERT: In the world of medical aesthetics, if a price looks too good to be true... it usually is. 💉✨
We all love a good deal, but when it comes to medical procedures like neurotoxins (Botox/Dysport/Juveau, etc), dermal fillers (collagen stimulators), and advanced skin treatments, extreme discounts are a massive red flag.
In Texas, medical aesthetics are legally classified as the practice of medicine. That means safety, licensing, and legitimate products cost money. When a business cuts prices down to the bone, they are usually cutting corners on your safety to do it.
Before you book that "cheap" appointment, protect your face and your health by asking these 4 non-negotiable questions:
1. "Who is your Medical Director, and are they actively involved?"
Every medical spa in Texas must have a licensed supervising physician (a Medical Director). Ask for their name. A legitimate business will gladly tell you. Beware of "ghost directors"—physicians who sell their license numbers to a clinic but provide zero actual oversight or emergency protocols.
2. "What is the exact license and experience level of the person injecting me?"
You have every right to know who is holding the needle. Are they a Nurse Practitioner (APRN), Registered Nurse (RN), or Physician Assistant (PA)? Or in Texas, are they a non-medical who is injecting? (Mind you there are some great injectors who fall in the "non-medical" category but they have the experience and knowledge behind them). How long have they been injecting, and what advanced training do they have?
Aesthetic Injectors are popping up all over the place like crazy---- and many don't have the required credentials, training, experience or guidance, but because rules in certain states are relaxed, this poses a safety concern, in my opinion---- so please ask, don't assume.
3. "Where do you source your products?"
Legitimate, FDA-approved products must be purchased directly from authorized manufacturers (like Allergan or Galderma). Counterfeit, expired, or non-FDA-approved products bought cheaply online from overseas are highly dangerous and can cause severe complications. Ask to see the box!
4. "What is your protocol if an emergency or complication happens?"
Complications like vascular occlusions (a blocked blood vessel from filler) require immediate, medical-grade intervention. Does the provider have an emergency plan or dissolving agents (Hyaluronidase) on site? Is there a medical provider immediately available to handle an adverse event?
The Bottom Line: Your face is not the place to bargain hunt. Neither is your body. You aren't just paying for the liquid in the syringe; you are paying for the medical expertise, the pristine clinical environment, and the safety net of a licensed professional.
Prioritize your health over a discount. Stay safe out there! 🛑❤️
