🚴‍♀️ World Bicycle Day – June 3 🚴‍♂️

Today we celebrate the simple, timeless bicycle—a symbol of freedom, sustainability, and well-being. Whether you're riding for fitness, fun, or transportation, every mile pedaled is a step toward a healthier you and a cleaner world. 🌎

Bicycles remind us to slow down, enjoy the journey, and take in the moments that matter most. Much like the paths we travel in life, it’s not just about the destination—but the memories we create along the way.

At Dignity Memorial, we understand the importance of those journeys. We are honored to help families celebrate the lives, stories, and legacies of their loved ones—every step of the way.

💙 Today, consider taking a ride, exploring your community, or simply enjoying the fresh air.

🌈 June is Pride Month 🌈

At Dignity Memorial, we believe every life deserves to be honored, every story deserves to be remembered, and every family deserves compassionate care and support.

Pride Month is a time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, recognize the contributions and achievements of LGBTQ+ individuals, and reaffirm our commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. We understand that families come in many forms, and we are honored to serve every individual with dignity, respect, and compassion.

As we celebrate Pride Month, we also recognize the importance of community, acceptance, and the lasting impact of love. These values guide us every day as we help families honor cherished memories and create meaningful tributes to those they love.

From all of us at Dignity Memorial, Happy Pride Month! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

🚧🦺 National Safety Month – June 🦺🚧

June is National Safety Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about preventing injuries and saving lives both at work and at home. Led by the National Safety Council, this month encourages all of us to take simple steps that can make a big difference in protecting ourselves, our families, and our communities.

Throughout June, safety topics include:
✅ Moving Safety Forward – Creating a culture where safety comes first.
🚗 Staying Safe on the Roads – Eliminating distractions and practicing defensive driving.
💙 Promoting Holistic Health – Prioritizing mental wellness, stress management, and overall well-being.
⚠️ Preventing Slips, Trips, and Falls – Recognizing hazards and taking precautions to avoid common injuries.

At Dignity Memorial, we understand how precious life is and the importance of protecting the people we love. Safety is more than a workplace practice—it’s a commitment to caring for one another every day. Whether you're driving to work, caring for a loved one, or simply enjoying time with family, taking a few extra moments to think about safety can help prevent accidents and create a healthier community for everyone.

This month, challenge yourself to make safety a daily habit. Small actions today can make a lasting impact tomorrow.

🌟 Monday, June 1st is Say Something Nice Day! 🌟

This special day is a reminder that even the smallest words of kindness can bring comfort, encouragement, and hope to someone who may need it most. 💙

World Hunger Day is May 28th — a day dedicated to raising awareness about global food insecurity and the sustainable solutions that can help end hunger for millions around the world.

Founded in 2011 by The Hunger Project, World Hunger Day reminds us that hunger is not inevitable. Through community support, education, and sustainable development, real change is possible.

Today, nearly 2.4 billion people worldwide experience moderate or severe food insecurity, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. Even in developed nations, many families continue to struggle due to rising grocery costs, limited access to affordable food, and economic hardships.

This day serves as a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful impact. Supporting local food pantries, donating meals, volunteering, or simply helping a neighbor in need can bring hope to someone facing uncertainty. ❤️

Dignity Memorial is proud to support efforts that strengthen and care for our community. Hunger affects families, children, seniors, and neighbors right here in Fort Wayne, and together we can help make a difference.

Help feed the hungry in our community by donating food or other needed items to local organizations making an impact every day, including Community Harvest Food Bank, Miss Virginia’s Food Pantry, Wellspring Interfaith Social Services, East Wayne Street Center, and The Lighthouse. These organizations continue to provide food, staples, resources, and hope to families throughout our community.

Together, we can help build stronger, healthier communities where no one has to wonder where their next meal will come from.

Think about the past and consider the sacrifices men and women in the military have made for us.”
— Gary G. Wetzel

Memorial Day is about more than cookouts, fireworks, potlucks, or getting together with friends and family. It is a day to reflect on the incredible sacrifices made by the brave men and women who gave their lives so we could enjoy the freedoms we have today. Freedom was never free, and this holiday is a reminder of the price that was paid for our nation.

This Memorial Day, Dignity Memorial honors those courageous heroes whose sacrifice, bravery, and dedication will never be forgotten.

We invite you and your family to visit one of our three cemeteries to remember loved ones, reflect on cherished memories, and honor those who served our country with pride and courage:

📅 Sunday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
📅 Monday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

May we all pause this Memorial Day to remember the fallen, honor their legacy, and cherish the freedoms they fought to protect. ❤️🤍💙

🍵 May 21st is International Tea Day! 🍵

For more than 5,000 years, tea has brought people together through comfort, conversation, healing, and tradition. Today, tea continues to play an important role around the world — supporting millions of families and small farmers while connecting cultures across generations.

International Tea Day is a time to celebrate the rich heritage, health benefits, and global impact of tea, while also recognizing the importance of sustainable practices “from field to cup” so future generations can continue to enjoy this timeless tradition.

At Dignity Memorial, we understand how meaningful simple moments can be. A warm cup of tea shared with family, friends, or loved ones can bring comfort, reflection, and connection during both joyful and difficult times. It’s often the little traditions that create the most lasting memories. 💚

So today, slow down, pour yourself a cup, and enjoy a moment of peace and togetherness. ☕

❤️ May 20th is National Rescue Dog Day — a special day that reminds us some of the best companions in life are simply waiting for someone to give them a chance. Every shelter dog deserves a loving home, a warm bed, and a family to call their own. ❤️🐾

If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, today is the perfect day to start your journey. Visit Humane Fort Wayne or Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control to find that dog you’ve been looking for. You may just discover that your new best friend has been waiting for you all along. 🐶🏡

At Dignity Memorial, we believe caring for families goes far beyond the services we provide. The love, comfort, loyalty, and companionship that rescue dogs bring into a home can be truly healing, especially during life’s difficult moments. Pets become part of our families, our memories, and our hearts—and today we celebrate the incredible joy they bring to so many lives. ❤️🐾

Whether you adopt, volunteer, donate supplies, or simply help spread awareness, every act of kindness makes a difference for animals in need.

Share your rescue stories and photos today using and help encourage others to adopt, not shop. 🐾❤️

Memorial Day began after the Civil War as a day to honor military personnel who died in service to the United States. Today, it remains a solemn national observance dedicated specifically to fallen service members, distinguishing it from Veterans Day, which recognizes all U.S. military veterans.

Common Memorial Day traditions include:

Visiting cemeteries and memorials
Participating in parades and ceremonies
Displaying the U.S. flag at half-staff until noon
Observing the National Moment of Remembrance at 3:00 p.m. local time
Spending time with family while reflecting on the sacrifices of fallen troops

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs notes that Memorial Day became a federal holiday in 1971 and is observed on the last Monday in May each year.

During this time of remembrance, Dignity Memorial is here to assist families with compassionate support, personalized memorial services, and meaningful ways to honor the lives and legacies of loved ones. Dignity Memorial also offers a free Veterans Planning Guide to all veterans. Stop by any of our funeral homes or cemeteries to receive yours and learn more about honoring military service with dignity and care.
