Roberto Chavarria, 66, entered into eternal rest on June 7, 2026, in Harlingen, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.

Roberto was born on November 15, 1959, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Alonzo Luis Chavarria and Carmen Hernandez Chavarria. He was known for his warm smile, wonderful sense of humor, and kind-hearted nature. Roberto had a special way of connecting with people and never met a stranger. His genuine spirit and friendly personality touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Roberto was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers, and the San Antonio Spurs. Two of his greatest passions in life were cooking and music. He found immense joy in preparing meals for family and friends, often bringing loved ones together around the table. Cooking was one of the many ways he expressed his love for others.

Music was another important part of Roberto's life. During the 1970s and 1980s, he played drums for Grupo Mayo. A talented musician, Roberto had the privilege of performing alongside his brother, Al "Chato" Chavarria, for many years. Together, they traveled throughout the country sharing their music and creating memories that they cherished dearly.

Roberto was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo Luis Chavarria and Carmen Hernandez Chavarria; his sister, Janie Garcia; his brother, his nephew, Steven Alonso Chavarria; his brother, Ernesto Chavarria; and his beloved son, Robert Eugene "Babo" Chavarria.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Cynthia Ann Chavarria of Harlingen. Together, they shared 23 years of friendship, love, and marriage. He is also survived by their daughter, Mia Chavarria of Harlingen; his children, Beth (Robert) Gonzalez, Rene (Elvira) Chavarria, Tricia (Gabriel) Gomez, and Erica Chavarria and her fiancé, Jimmy, all of Corpus Christi, Texas; and his daughter-in-law, Charlene Chavarria.

Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Pauline (Rudy) Garcia and Al "Chato" Chavarria (Dorothy); his eleven grandchildren, Kasandra, Jadrien, Joseph, Jonavin, Jewelz, Giselle, Gillian, Rene Jr., Neveah, Gabriel Jr., and Nariah; his great-grandson, Gabriel Anthony Gomez III; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace in Harlingen, Texas. All services will conclude at 9:00 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen, Texas.

SanJuana O. Moreno, 73, a lifetime resident of Mercedes, Texas went to be with our Lord on Friday, June 5, 2026, in Harlingen, Texas. She was born November 18, 1952, to Severiano and Dolores Gonzalez Ortiz in Mercedes, Texas. She is survived by her loving family: Four Children: Juan S. Moreno, Omar (Leonor) Moreno, Cassandra M. Moreno (Leeroy Garza), Justin Lee (Ashley) Alonzo, 18 grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren and nine brothers and sisters. SanJuana is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Argentina Ortiz and Noemi Medrano. Mrs. Moreno was a dedicated sister, daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is and will forever be loved and missed by all who knew her. In respect to SanJuana's wishes there will be no services at this time. Funeral services are under the direction and care of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Mercedes, Texas.

Debbie Lee Alvizo, 35, went to be with her Lord on June 4, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Debbie was born on July 29, 1990, in Brownsville, Texas, to Jorge Hernandez and Maria Socorro Saucillo, who preceded her in death.

Debbie was known for her joyful spirit and contagious laughter. She had a beautiful way of bringing happiness to those around her and was always smiling. She loved to dance, enjoyed baking, and cherished every opportunity to create special memories with her family. Above all, Debbie adored her children and treasured the time she spent with them. Her love, warmth, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Carlos Alvizo; her three beloved children, Xavier Alessandro Alvizo, Aaron Jonael Alvizo, and Karla Lee Alvizo; her sister, Cynthia Trevino; her brother, Esteban Fernandez Errisuriz; her grandmother, Maria Bartola Saucillo; her godmother, Maria Lourdes Granado; and numerous extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Rudy Garza Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with a Prayer Service to begin at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will conclude Saturday evening.

Debbie was loved greatly and will be deeply missed, but her beautiful smile, loving heart, and precious memories will live on forever in the lives of those she touched.

Alberto Leal Fonseca, 85, entered into rest on June 4, 2026, in Harlingen, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.

Alberto retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of service. He really did enjoy his career and all the people he met along the way. Alberto was known throughout the community, especially by many at all the restaurants in town. He enjoyed a good meal and enjoyed talking to all the people there. He was known throughout Harlingen.

Alberto was an avid sports fan; he loved anything Texas, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and visiting his grandchildren. He also enjoyed word searches, the Weather Channel, the Hallmark Channel, and the Lifetime Channel.

Alberto was known as “Raisin,” a name given to him by his children. It was a nickname he was proud of, according to all those who knew him. He will always be known as a man with a big heart who was generous and kind. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Florinda Leal Fonseca "Flor" of Harlingen, Texas, four children, Rolando Fonseca of West Hills, CA., Arnold Fonseca (Susan England) of Vinton, VA., Maria Madrigal (Joshua) of Winnetka, CA., and Tera Montes (Samuel) of West Hills, CA. Also surviving him are three grandchildren, Natalie Montes, Emily Montes, and Luke Madrigal.

He is also survived by four siblings: Antonio “Tony” Fonseca (Irma) of San Benito, Texas, Jose “Joe” Fonseca (Lydia) of Harlingen, Simon Fonseca (Delia) of San Benito, Texas, Apolonio Fonseca, Jr., (Esmeralda) of San Benito, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his son, Alberto Fonseca, Jr.; parents, Apolonio and Eva Fonseca; one brother, Ricardo “Richard” Fonseca; and one sister, Yolanda Rodriguez.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a rosary at 6:00 pm, at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace in Harlingen, Texas. The funeral will take place on Monday, June 15, 2026, departing the funeral home at 9:30 am for a Mass of Christian burial at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Semisi as celebrant. The burial will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park Cemetery in San Benito, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Rolando Fonseca, Arnold Fonseca, Samuel Montes, Joshua Madrigal, Gilbert Armenda, and Manny Longoria.

Rodolfo “Rudy” Reed, 93, entered into eternal rest on June 3, 2026, in Harlingen, Texas.

Rudy was born on September 5, 1932, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Eugen Reed and Amelia Gonzales. A proud veteran, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and honorably served his country during the Korean War. In recognition of his bravery and sacrifice, he was awarded the Purple Heart.

Rudy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He treasured the memories he made with his children, especially their drives along the seashore in Corpus Christi, where they would feed the seagulls and enjoy the beauty of the coast together.

A man who appreciated life's simple pleasures, Rudy enjoyed traveling to Mexico to share meals and laughter with friends. He loved watching westerns, especially films starring Clint Eastwood, and could often be found listening to the music of Vicente Fernández. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. He delighted in shopping for them and took great pride in watching his family grow through the generations.

Rudy is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Ofelia Reed of Harlingen, Texas; his children, Corrine Pro (Richard) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Elaine Hatton (Alvin Lee, Jr.) of Dawson Springs, Kentucky, and Ronald Eric Reed (Edna) of Converse, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amanda Pro, Jayme Mathis (Jake), Dani Hamilton (Joshua), Joey Hatton, Claire Reed, Grace Reed, Debbie Reed, Christopher Reed, and Rudy Reed III; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his son, Rudy Reed, Jr.; his daughter, Debbie Reed; and his brother, Richard Garza.

A private graveside will be held at a later date.

Rudy will be remembered for his love of family, his faithful service to his country, and the many cherished memories he leaves behind. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Juanita S. Garcia, 85, entered into eternal rest on June 2, 2026, in Harlingen, Texas.

Juanita was born on June 24, 1940, in Rio Hondo, Texas, to Cesario Sanchez and Jesusa Araguz. She was a hardworking woman throughout her life whose greatest joy came from caring for her family. She took immense pride in creating a warm and loving home where her children always felt welcomed and cherished.

Juanita enjoyed traveling to Wharton, Texas, to visit her mother's family and treasured the time spent with loved ones. She found happiness in gardening, cooking, and making tamales alongside her daughters, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. She also enjoyed playing chalupa, dancing, and listening to music. One of her favorite pastimes was having her children drive her by her childhood home, where she would fondly reminisce about the many happy memories of her youth. She also loved spending peaceful moments sitting in her rocking chair on the front porch.

Above all else, Juanita deeply loved her family. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Daisy.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Sirildo B. Garcia; her sons, Cirildo Garcia, Jr., and Gerardo Garcia; her grandson, Gerardo Garcia, Jr.; her parents, Cesario Sanchez and Jesusa Araguz; and numerous siblings.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Noemi Gonzalez (Homero), Velba Gonzales, and Olga Garcia. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren: Amanda, Rhonda, Julissa, Manny, Amy, Candace, Lori, Alex, Rachel, and Aurora; twenty-five great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Francisco Sanchez, Cesario Sanchez, and Teresa Sanchez.

Visitation will begin on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace in Harlingen, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, with a chapel service at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Melinda Zapata.
Interment will follow at Ashland Memorial Park Cemetery in Harlingen, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be Marcus Rivera, Alex Garcia, Josh Zapata, Rene Portales, Manny Gonzales, and Homero Alberto Flores.

With profound sadness and unwavering faith in God's promises, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Maria Elena Cano, who entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 1, 2026, at the age of 80.

Maria Elena was a woman of remarkable strength, determination, and faith. Through perseverance and hard work, she overcame many obstacles to obtain an education and create a beautiful life for her family. Her life was a testament to resilience, courage, and the power of unwavering faith in God.

A devoted member of Primera Iglesia Bautista, Maria Elena faithfully served the Lord throughout her life. She found great comfort and strength in God's Word, reading Scripture daily and spending countless hours in prayer for her family, friends, church, and all those in need. Her faith guided every aspect of her life and served as an example to everyone who knew her.

Maria Elena dedicated more than four decades of service to Rio Elevator Company, where she worked as an Office Manager. She was respected for her professionalism, strong work ethic, loyalty, and commitment. Throughout her career, she built lasting friendships and earned the admiration of colleagues through her kindness, dependability, and dedication.

Maria Elena's greatest joy was her family. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Francisco G. Cano, and a dedicated mother to her daughter, Imelda Cano Trevino and son-in-law, Orlando Trevino. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Tatiana Maria Mata and her husband, Jonathan, and Natasha Karina Trevino. She was also a cherished sister to Reyes Alfredo Ontiveros and a beloved aunt to her nieces, Catherine Ann Ontiveros and Marta Leticia McVicker, and her nephew, Joaquin Reyes Ontiveros.

She also shared a special bond with her beloved Boston Terrier, Jelly Bean, who brought her great comfort and companionship.

Maria Elena was an inspiration to her daughter and granddaughters, teaching them through her example the values of faith, perseverance, kindness, and unconditional love. Her wisdom, encouragement, and steadfast belief in God's goodness helped shape the lives of those she loved most.

Though her family mourns her passing, they rejoice in knowing that she has received the ultimate reward of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Her legacy of faith, strength, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will begin Thursday, at 12:00 PM until 9:00 PM and a prayer service will be at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 5, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Rudy Garza Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Rodriguez of Primera Iglesia Bautista officiating. The procession will depart the funeral home at 1:30 PM for burial at Heavenly Grace Cemetery in La Feria.

Maria Elena will be remembered for her strong spirit, her devotion to God, her love for her family, her dedication to her work, and her unwavering determination to overcome life's challenges with grace and faith.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, perseverance, and devotion that will endure for generations.

Alberto Salazar was born on March 5, 1951, and entered into eternal rest on May 31, 2026.

Alberto married Maria in 1977, and together they shared 48 years of marriage. During that time, they were blessed with two sons. Alberto was a self-taught mechanic and tow truck driver. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, he operated his own business and served many in the community as their trusted mechanic.
He proudly passed on his knowledge of mechanics to his son, and the two worked side by side in the business for many years.

Later in life, Alberto cherished his role as a grandfather to his granddaughters. He always referred to them as “My beautiful girls,” and they were truly his pride and joy. He loved sharing stories of his youth, barbecuing, spending time with family, and watching old movies.

He is preceded in death by his parents, younger brother, and son, Eduardo Salazar.

Surviving him are his wife, Maria; son, Daniel Salazar (Cynthia); granddaughters, Kassandra LeeAnn Salazar and Madelyn Olivia Salazar; brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and many other family members.

Visitation will begin on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm, at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace in Harlingen, with Pastor Eli Hinojosa from Faith Pleases God officiating. The funeral will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, with a chapel service at 1:00 p.m. The burial will follow at Ashland Memorial Park Cemetery in Harlingen, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Alberto Salazar, Jerry Salazar, Ramiro Salazar, Eddie Reyes, Adan Hernandez, and Benjamin Romo.
