Physical and mental wellness are important to the Lehigh Valley Health Network residency program. Wellness Wednesdays are a staple in the program. When there is a fifth Wednesday in a month, Grand Rounds is dedicated to out-of-hospital wellness! These Wednesdays include activities such as mini golf, an apple orchard trip, rock climbing, and holiday parties. There is also a new Multicultural Dinner Series which sponsors group meals at locally owned restaurants, sparking conversation around the culture each one represents. All of these activities aim to provide residents the opportunity to destress and bond with their fellow residents, making for stronger physicians and a stronger team.

Emergency medicine physicians often face high levels of stress and burnout, making it essential to prioritize mental wellness activities. Whether done individually or as a group, make sure to take time for your own wellness.
