Dr. Ken Smith completed his medical education at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, where he developed a strong foundation in osteopathic principles and patient-centered care. He then pursued a surgical internship at Case Western Reserve University / University Hospitals, gaining valuable experience in orthopedics, general surgery, and sports medicine. Dr. Smith went on to complete his residency in Family Medicine at Oklahoma State University, where he refined his procedural skills and developed a comprehensive, hands-on approach to musculoskeletal care. His training culminated in a prestigious fellowship in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine at OrthoAlabama, accredited by the North American Spine Society (NASS)—one of the leading programs in the field. Dr. Smith’s clinical focus includes spinal injections and nerve blocks, vertebral augmentation for fracture stabilization, and minimally invasive lumbar decompression and interspinous stabilization to treat spinal stenosis. He also specializes in the use of spinal cord stimulators and peripheral nerve stimulators for complex pain syndromes. In addition, he offers regenerative therapies such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell injections to enhance healing in joints, tendons, and ligaments. Beyond interventional procedures, Dr. Smith leads dedicated services in osteoporosis evaluation and fracture prevention, hormone optimization for both men and women, and sports medicine for patients of all ages—supporting recovery, performance, and long-term musculoskeletal health. He emphasizes a biopsychosocial approach to pain—prioritizing functional restoration, diagnostic precision, and evidence-based treatments without chronic opioid reliance. Dr. Smith is deeply committed to helping patients return to active, meaningful lives through the least invasive means possible.
