🍼🍴Feeding Fact Friday 🍴🍼
Pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders can affect a child’s nutrition, growth, and participation in family mealtimes (Goday, et. al 2019).
Signs that may warrant a feeding evaluation can include:
🗣️Frequent coughing or choking during meals
🤮 Excessive gagging or vomiting during meals
🥣Difficulty transitioning to new textures
⏰Extremely long mealtimes
🙊Food refusal or limited food variety
🤒 Recurrent upper respiratory infections
😓Stressful mealtimes for the child or family
🌟Remember that you know your child best. Trust your observations and don’t hesitate to bring concerns to your pediatrician.
