This weekend we had a great time meeting seeing old friends and colleagues, and making new ones as well. While we were at the Birch & Banyan Coffee Mindful Me event, we got a chance to talk to friends from NAMI, the Lighthouse Project, PFLAG, Hope-hope-iatry, Waukesha Women's Center, Evolve Psychiatry and Wellness, Rogers Memorial Hospital, Lifestance, WellBrook Recovery, and just a ton of other places! If you missed the event this year, definitely keep an eye open for next year!

Yesterday we had the opportunity to go hang out at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park and promote with the Lake Country DockHounds ⚾️. They were kind enough to invite us down to speak with the public in this fantastic event. They held a 5k prior to their game, so we thought we'd bring some waters to help cool people off . It was nice to meet some new friends and chat about how Mental Health affects everyone's lives. As you can see below, it was a beautiful day to beat the Milwaukee Milkmen (7-4) 🎉 And hey, if you need to talk about your loss just give us a call 😁

Here at WADC, we often find ourselves helping people to figure out how they feel and why they feel that way. Here is a great chart one of our therapists put together to help explain how a trigger and mood together can lead to a more nuanced emotional experience.

For example, feeling sad because someone was mean might lead to feeling hurt, while feeling sad after making a mistake might lead to embarrassment.

Recognizing these subtle differences helps clients build emotional vocabulary and self‑awareness, which are key steps toward emotional regulation.

At WADC, we use tools like this to help clients of all ages better understand their emotions and the thoughts that shape them.

Please join me in welcoming the newest additions to our treatment team. From left to right these are Lacey, Bob the Bamboo, and Raven. Bob is doing a little aura farming, but I think we can forgive him. All three of them will be joining the team to help our clients feel at ease while discussing big topics.

Feel free to come by and say hi to them any time you like.

We had a wonderful time connecting with our community at the “Mindful Me” street fair hosted by Birch & Banyan Coffee in Hartland!
Events like this remind us how powerful it can be when local businesses and mental health providers come together to share resources and start conversations about wellness.

Our team at the Wisconsin Anxiety & Depression Clinic loved meeting everyone who stopped by to learn more about anxiety, depression, and ways to find support.
If you missed us this time, keep an eye out for future events — we’re always happy to talk about mental health and how therapy can help you feel more balanced and confident in your daily life.

I can’t tell you how often we see people with high‑functioning anxiety around the clinic. It’s extremely common for even highly successful people to struggle with anxiety, often without doing anything about it for a long time. Many people feel like they don’t have time to deal with it. Others feel overwhelmed but keep pushing forward because they don’t see another option. It can feel like a trap.
But there are solutions, and they don’t require dropping everything you’ve worked so hard to build. Therapy and, for some people, medication can make a huge difference. The key is finding the right therapist and the right approach.
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone — and support is available when you’re ready

Here's another post of Alana's work with her clients. This week's topic is on SMART goals.
Poorly defined goals are like wishes - we may want them but they aren't likely to come true. SMART is a classic acronym to help people develop more effective goals. Research and experience show that specific, realistic, and time-bound goals are more likely to become something you can actually accomplish.
Whether you're trying to learn a new language, get in shape, or just start a new routine, SMART goals give you the structure to support success instead of relying on willpower alone.
So if you're working on your own goals this month, why not try making them SMART goals. And if you need a hand, we're always here to help.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. During this time we expand the conversation about how we care for ourselves and each other. We've made real progress in recent decades at improving the quality of discourse around mental health, even though statistics sometimes make it seem like things are getting worse.
However, statistics can be misleading. Remember that awareness means that more people will recognize their symptoms, and become more likely to seek help. We also have better tools than ever before to help us identify mental health concerns. Increases in diagnosis are not necessarily the same as increased suffering.
So this month, take a moment to check in with yourself. Make sure to prioritize rest, connection, and whatever makes you feel grounded. And if you ever feel like you could use a hand, we're here when you're ready.
