The HPV vaccine helps protect boys and girls from HPV related cancers. The HPV vaccine typically given at ages 11–12, but can be given as early as age 9.

Hotter temperatures are expected to return to McHenry County Tuesday through Thursday, with heat indices potentially reaching dangerous levels.

If there isn't access to air conditioning at home, cooling centers are available throughout the county to provide relief from the heat. We've partnered with the McHenry County Emergency Management Agency to share an updated list of cooling center locations, now with notations identifying pet-friendly sites.

Remember to drink plenty of water, limit time outdoors during the hottest part of the day, wear lightweight clothing, and check on older adults, young children, and neighbors who may be more vulnerable to extreme heat. Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.

⚠️ Wildfire smoke is impacting air quality across McHenry County, and an Air Quality Alert remains in effect through Friday night, July 17.

Today is a Purple Air Pollution Action Day, meaning air quality is considered very unhealthy. Conditions are expected to remain unhealthy Friday.

Please check air-quality conditions before heading outside and limit time outdoors and strenuous activity while smoke persists. Children and teens, older adults, people with heart or lung disease, and people who work or exercise outdoors are at greater risk.

If you need to be outside, take frequent breaks and consider wearing a high-quality N95 or N100 mask. Keep windows and doors closed when possible, set air conditioning to recirculate air, and remember that pets are affected by smoke, too. Keep their outdoor time brief.

Our cohort recently passed the Sonographic Principles & Instrumentation (SPI) Registry Examination, administered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

Passing the SPI exam is a significant milestone on the path to becoming registered diagnostic medical sonographers, and we are proud to see the cohort reach this goal together.
