When you're having a baby, being able to communicate with your care team and understand what's happening can make all the difference.💙
For Karol Matute, a mother of three from Marrero, West Jefferson Medical Center has been part of three of her family's biggest milestones. All three of her children were born at West Jefferson, including her daughter Sophia, who received specialized care in the hospital's Level III NICU.
During Hispanic Heritage Month, we're celebrating the Spanish-speaking physicians, nurses and team members who help Hispanic and Latino families feel heard, informed and supported throughout their healthcare journey.
At The Family Birth Place, that support includes labor and delivery services, lactation support and a Level III NICU for babies who need specialized care after birth. For families like Karol's, having caregivers who understand their language and culture can make a meaningful difference.
