Your A1c isn’t a grade on your willpower—and one cupcake doesn’t get to take all the blame. 🧁😂
Here’s what that number actually means:
🩸 A1c estimates your average blood sugar over about three months. A finger-stick checks your blood sugar at that moment.
For diagnosing prediabetes and diabetes:
🟢 Below 5.7%: Normal range
🟡 5.7–6.4%: Prediabetes range
🔴 6.5% or higher: Diabetes range—usually requiring confirmation with another test.
Already living with diabetes? Your treatment goal is personalized. Those diagnostic ranges aren’t automatically your treatment targets!
And an average can hide the roller coaster. 🎢 A1c doesn’t show every high or low, so your home readings or glucose-monitor data can help fill in the picture. Certain conditions, including some types of anemia, can also affect its accuracy.
During your visit with me, I’ll explain your results, review your trends, and help you make a plan that fits your health and everyday life. Bring your questions—you don’t have to translate the patient portal by yourself. 💗
