We're hiring a House Manager / Recovery Coach in Hastings.

This role is for someone who wants to do more than manage houses — someone who believes in recovery and wants to help people build stable, meaningful lives. You'd oversee our sober living homes, coach residents, and help keep them safe, structured, and recovery-focused.

$20–$30/hour, full-time with benefits. Schedule includes evenings and some weekend shifts. Valid driver's license required. PRS certification is required — if you don't have it yet, we'll support the right candidate through training and certification.

For May's Media of the Month, our staff at Lionheart highly recommend the documentary "A New High," which covers the true story of a group of people early in recovery from Washington State taking a climbing trip to the top of Mount Rainier, along the way discovering the parallels between overcoming adversity on the mountain and accomplishing recovery in their own lives. Their story is inspiring and marked an authenticity in the both the trials and triumphs often inherent to the recovery journey. We hope you enjoy the watch!

Earlier today after our morning treatment group, Lionheart staff members Brooke and Dawson held a game of Bocce for our clients! Even with it being her first time, Brooke and her teammate (not Dawson) blew everyone else out of the water -- it wasn't even close. Life in recovery is fun, and we enjoy living it with our clients.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month in the United States. Did you know about half of people with a substance use disorder have co-occurring mental health needs that both impact and are impacted by addiction? In spite of this fact, researchers find less than 10% of adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use needs have access to integrated treatment. Every day, we strive to be part of the solution for our community. We know that comprehensive, integrated care significantly increases the chances of people with mental health needs maintaining long-term recovery. There should be no stigma for needing help -- only compassion, understanding, and adequate resources to help people pursue happy, healthy, and productive lives.

Last Wednesday, Program Outreach Coordinator Dawson Urquidez and Director Tiffany Neuharth had a WONDERFUL tour at the recently opened Capitol Park Mental Health Hospital in Saint Paul! It was incredible to witness firsthand their state-of-the-art resources and discuss how we can be a resource to one another as clients navigate care options. We love our community partners and fellow providers!

Our counselors often begin the day with a check-in for our clients to promote mindfulness and even start conversations that are good for the group to work through together. The thing is, these mindfulness exercises are good for all of us. We put together a small list of some of our counselors' favorite questions they use to check in with clients, so you can check in with yourself! If you feel comfortable, we'd love to see your responses to any or all of these questions too.

Our program outreach coordinator, Dawson, had a wonderful time representing Lionheart at the Dakota County Jail Fair today. Inmates at correctional facilities need resources to plan for life post-release. For many, continuing their recovery journeys and finding affordable, safe, and supportive sober living environments is a priority. We are honored to be a resource to our community, removing barriers for people with the courage to get back on their feet and pursue happy, healthy lives.
