Officer Robert “Bobby” Brown once patrolled the streets of Baltimore. Today, he walks the halls of Harbor of Grace, helping fellow first responders face the burdens of a life in service.
A Baltimore native, Bobby joined the Baltimore Police Department in 1991. Over the next 32 years, he served in the Western, Southern, Southwestern, and Central Inner Harbor districts. He spent ten years in Command Investigations. He also served as a field training officer, a member of the Peer Support Team, and a Crisis Intervention–Trained Officer. His career brought honors, including a Silver Star, Bronze Star, the Distinguished Service Award, three Commendation Ribbons, Life Saving Award, and twelve Letters of Commendation.
Bobby’s commitment to policing also extends to preserving its history. He coauthored Some Gave All: A History of Baltimore Police Officers Killed in the Line of Duty, 1808–2023. The book honors Baltimore’s fallen officers, with proceeds supporting the Baltimore Police Memorial Fund. He also helped put together the Police Museum.
After experiencing a police-involved shooting near the end of his career, Bobby came to Harbor of Grace for support. Now a member of it’s Rapid Response Team, he draws upon his service and recovery to help other first responders understand they need not carry their trauma/burdens alone.
