When the hospital made the referral to hospice, the family had a request of their own. They’d been through the hospice journey before, with Auburn Crest by their side, and they knew what that care felt like. So they asked for us by name.

He knew he didn't have much time left. And he had something he wanted to do with it. 🦋

When our historian Sara Jane visited, he had a question ready for her: "Can you help me write my obituary?"

Sara Jane didn't just say yes.
She asked him how he wanted his story to be told.
She read him examples so he could hear the shape of it.
They talked for a long time about the details of his life, what mattered, what he wanted people to remember.

He didn't grow up with much. But he had lived a full and meaningful life, and he wanted to leave with his story told right.

That conversation was a gift. For him, and for everyone who gets to hear it.

Auburn Crest is proud to be the only hospice team in North Idaho with a full time historian on staff. Because every life deserves to be remembered. 🦋
