As doulas, most of us are very familiar with the ARRIVE Study. In fact, many of us have found it difficult to support clients desiring a natural birth since the ARRIVE study was published. Anecdotally, many of us felt induction of labor increases risk of c-section. However, it was difficult to navigate our anecdotal experience with the study.

Well, a new retrospective cohort study published in the journal Birth: Issues in Perinatal Care found a correlation between an induction of labor and increased risk of c-section birth.

Induction of labor and cesarean birth in lower-risk nulliparous women at term: A retrospective cohort study was published in January 2024.

Sharing my updated availability for the rest of 2026 I have just a few spots left for mommas with fall babies! 🍂

As for 2027, I will no longer be offering doula services!!

It is so bittersweet but for the time being I will be focusing my energy on my schooling, apprenticeship for midwifery, and also ensuring that any extra time I have will be spent with my own sweet babies.

If you are looking for doula services please still reach out because I have some really great recommendations.

I also have some really great recommendations for homebirth midwives in the area as it will be a while yet before I will be offering them myself.

If you are going back to work make sure you have a place to pump. Workplaces are REQUIRED by law to give you time and space. 💜

Look 👀 at this amazing graph which shows every recorded breastfeed for 14 months.

In the early days of breastfeeding it can feel like that’s all you’re doing, and it’s supported by the many dots (feeds) we see in the early months of this baby’s life, but look how the feeds spread out as the baby gets older.

You can see how the pattern changed again as the baby started to eat more solid food alongside breastfeeding, and then how shecontinued having a morning and evening breastfeed for many months after that too.

This is a fabulous visual to show what happens over the course of one breastfeeding journey. (Of course, not everyone’s will look like this)

*edited to say, please be kind! This is just ONE feeding journey of ONE dyad. Every feeding journey looks different, and each journey is beautiful in its own right. It can be normal for some babies to decrease the number of feeds as they get older, and it’s fine to follow their lead if all else is well. However other babies will continue frequent feeds day and night and this is fine too! If you’re ever in doubt, or would like some reassurance/support please reach out.*

On the road doing birth things today and it took me right by the Rhoades Family Farm milk stand. Yayy I was so excited. Milk is great for pregnancy FYI and fresh raw milk is even better. I miss my cow 🐄 🥹. This is some really great stuff though if you are in the Binger area!!
