If you’re struggling today, I just want you to remember...

When everything feels overwhelming or depressing, your brain will try to convince you that you have to fix it all at once, that you should be doing more, coping better, or holding it together...

But today isn’t about doing everything. It’s about getting through it safely.

It's about eating something, messaging someone you love, getting a bit of fresh air (even if it's raining!), putting on music or a podcast that lifts your spirits, doing one small thing that makes your space or your body feel a little better.

And please, don’t turn on yourself while you’re already struggling. You don’t deserve punishment for having a hard time.

You matter, even on the days you don’t feel like you do. And this feeling, as intense as it is, won’t last forever.

Stay Strong ❤️

❤️🤍💙

Happy 4th of JULY!

Your mental health matters today and every day.
However you're spending the day, give yourself permission to celebrate, rest, and be kind to yourself.

Stay safe. Stay well.

As you celebrate today, remember:

Your mental health matters just as much as the festivities. Whether today brings laughter, loved ones, mixed emotions, or a much-needed moment of peace, give yourself permission to honor where you are. There isn't a "right" way to experience a holiday.

Happy 4th of July from Northland Counseling Services! 🇺🇸

💙 JUNE IS MEN'S MENTAL HEALTH MONTH 💙
Let's learn something that is not talked about enough:
Globally, men account for the majority of su***de deaths. Every year, more than 500,000 men lose their lives to su***de — a heartbreaking reminder that too many are suffering in silence.
• Around 525,000 men die by su***de each year
• Over 10,000 every week
• More than 1,400 every day
• Approximately 60 every hour
• Nearly 1 man every minute
For generations, many men have been taught that showing emotion is weakness. They were told to "man up," stay strong, hide their pain, and carry their struggles alone.
But the truth is:
Men cry.
Men experience trauma.
Men struggle with anxiety and depression.
Men self-harm.
Men develop eating disorders.
Men face body image challenges.
Men get abused.
Men experience heartbreak.
Men go to therapy.
Men need love, support, and understanding.
And most importantly:
Men feel.
Research also shows that men are often less likely to seek professional help when struggling, even though many are facing overwhelming emotional pain. This is why conversations about men's mental health matter.
It is not unmanly to struggle.
It is not weak to ask for help.
It is not shameful to talk about your feelings.
This month, let us check on the men in our lives — the fathers, brothers, sons, husbands, friends, colleagues, and neighbors who may be carrying burdens we cannot see.
To every man silently battling his mental health:
We see you.
You matter.
Your feelings are valid.
You do not have to carry everything alone.
Let's encourage men to speak up, not just man up.
Because talking saves lives. 💙

People don’t always look like they’re struggling.

They can be smiling, showing up, making plans, supporting others… and still feel overwhelmed inside.

Mental health isn’t always visible. And that’s why empathy matters.

✨ Check in on your people
✨ Listen without trying to fix
✨ Remind others (and yourself): it’s okay to not be okay

Because sometimes the strongest-looking people are carrying the heaviest things.

💬 When was the last time you checked in on someone—really checked in?

may is national mental health awareness month, and some of the hardest battles people fight are the ones no one can see.

the mom smiling in the school pickup line.
the dad carrying the weight of everything in silence.
the friend who says “i’m just tired.”
the person who keeps showing up while quietly falling apart.

mental health doesn’t always look like breaking down.
sometimes it looks like irritability.
exhaustion.
overwhelm.
withdrawing.
surviving instead of living.

this month is about more than awareness.
it’s about compassion.
it’s about checking in.
it’s about breaking the silence around anxiety, depression, postpartum struggles, burnout, and the invisible weight so many carry every day.

you never truly know what someone is holding behind their smile.

be kind.
check on your people.
ask twice.
listen without judgment.

and if you’re the one struggling, your pain matters too.
you are worthy of support.
you are worthy of healing.
you are not meant to carry it all alone.

mental health is health.
and awareness can save lives.

Some days feel heavier than others.
If today is one of those days, take a breath and remind yourself: you don’t have to do it all, your feelings matter, and you deserve kindness.

In April, the semicolon is used as a symbol of hope and strength, recognizing and supporting those living with mental health challenges. It serves as a reminder that your story isn’t over—and that even in the hardest moments, you can choose to keep going 💜💙💜
It reminds us to be kinder, to listen more, and to show up for one another.
You are not alone, even on the days it feels like it.
And even the smallest step forward still matters.

You don’t have to push through everything by yourself. Support is available, and it’s okay to take things one day at a time. 🌱

Start where you are. Follow along for more mental health resources and support.
