We recently celebrated 117 years of Intermountain history with a special Founders Celebration.

Children and guests enjoyed activities, rang our historic bell, used the original Intermountain seal, and sang some favorite songs of our founder, William Wesley “Brother Van” Van Orsdel.

Brother Van even traveled through time on his trusty horse Jonathan to share stories from Intermountain’s early days.

A Methodist circuit rider known as the “Best Loved Man in Montana,” Brother Van helped establish the Montana Deaconess Preparatory School in 1909, what is today known as Intermountain.

We are grateful to all who joined us and helped create this fun opportunity for children and guests to learn a little more about the history behind the place they know today. 💙

A special thank you to the Brother Van Committee and House Museum in Great Falls and to the community members from Covenant United Church and St. Paul’s United Methodist Churches in Helena who led us in song.

Intermountain’s Director of Development, Beth Wheeler, is joining fellow fundraising professionals Allison Strekal of Montana State University Alumni Foundation and Kira Huck of Community Health Alliance at the AFP Montana Annual Education Summit in Billings.

Their panel explores the opportunities and challenges of emerging technology in fundraising, including finding the balance between working more efficiently, protecting donor privacy, and keeping relationships at the heart of fundraising. 💙

We’re proud to have Intermountain involved in this important conversation.

Every week, our Intermountain staff come together for training. Today’s focus was teamwork, communication, structure, and transitions, all explored through play!

We know how important play is for the kids we serve, but it has plenty of value for adults as well. Today was a great reminder that no matter the age, some of the best learning happens while we’re having fun.

CEO Jamie Palagi spent time in the residential cottages this weekend baking and decorating sugar cookies with the kids.

“There are so many wonderful parts of my job, but spending intentional time building relationships with our kids is among my favorites. These kids are incredible lights in this world. They are my why.” ❤️

Baking with adults gives the kids opportunities to practice patience, peer skills, and letting the adults be in charge. And ends with yummy treats of course! 🎃🍪

For 117 years, Intermountain has been helping children and families find hope and healing through healthy relationships. We’re proud to be part of a community that believes in the importance of caring for kids and families.

A big thank you to Kolar Tire & Auto for spending the morning on our campus changing tires on our fleet vehicles!

Our vehicles play an important role in helping us care for the children and families we serve. Keeping them safe and ready for the winter roads is no small task, and we’re grateful for local businesses like Kolar Tire who help us keep things rolling.

Sometimes, life is messy. And sometimes, that’s the fun of it! 🍝

Our kids recently enjoyed a special spaghetti night with a twist: forks were optional, and getting messy was encouraged!

At Intermountain, we believe kids need opportunities to laugh, play, be silly, and simply be kids. Healing happens through healthy relationships, and sometimes those relationships grow around a table full of laughter, fun, and a whole lot of slippery noodles!
