This week, the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health presented on the current state of maternal mental health across the country.

The webinar covered a lot of important ground, including how common maternal mental health conditions are, current screening and treatment rates, integrating behavioral health into maternity care, insurance and quality measures, and emerging policy efforts at the state and federal levels.

Please join us in submitting public comment emphasizing the importance of providing adequate Medicaid reimbursement for the physical, emotional, informational, and advocacy support doulas provide people during pregnancy, labor and birth, and/or following the end of a pregnancy.

Substance misuse is a common coping strategy for people experiencing mental health challenges. Nationwide, su***de and accidental overdose are leading causes of maternal mortality. Together, we can ensure maternal and allied health professionals have the knowledge and skills to recognize and effectively respond to substance use concerns during pregnancy and early parenthood.

On behalf of our partners at DPHHS, we’re excited to share that Family Day is coming up at the 2026 Great Beginnings, Great Families conference on August 11, 2026, and we’d love your help spreading the word! Family Day is a full day dedicated to family focused speakers, resources, and a family panel, all designed to support, empower, and connect families.

Families are welcome to join us just for Family Day or stay for the full conference, August 11–13, including our Exhibitor Showcase, where local organizations will share helpful programs, activities, and resources for children, teens, and families.
