Your nervous system is not a mindset problem.
When you feel overwhelmed, triggered, or completely shut down, that is not a personal failing. That is your body doing exactly what it learned to do.
You cannot think your way out of a nervous system response.
Three small shifts that actually help:
Slow your exhale. A longer breath out than in tells your nervous system the threat has passed.
Name what you are feeling out loud. Labeling an emotion reduces its intensity. Your brain responds to this.
Find something solid. Feet on the floor. Back against a wall. Physical grounding is not a metaphor. It works.
