Hashimoto’s is an autoimmune condition. So why are we only looking at the thyroid?

For practitioners, TSH is just one piece of a much bigger clinical picture.

Thyroid antibodies. Nutrient deficiencies. Gut health. Chronic stress. Metabolic dysfunction.

The real skill isn’t knowing which labs to order. It’s knowing how to connect the findings and understand what’s happening with the client in front of you.

🔬 That’s exactly why we’re bringing Whitney Morgan to FDN’s FREE Functional Health Practitioner School!

Cancer at 26. Chemotherapy. Major surgery. Years of chronic pain.

And Freddie Kimmel says cancer was the best thing that ever happened to him.

Let that sink in.

In this episode of the Health Detective Podcast, Freddie shares what conventional medicine did for him, what it couldn’t, and how his experience completely changed the way he approaches health.

We also get into functional lab testing, the obsession with health data, and why knowing what’s wrong doesn’t always mean knowing how to get better.

This is a conversation worth hearing.

We’ve all heard that health begins in the gut.

But what if it actually begins with STRESS?

FDN founder Reed Davis explains why stress may be the missing piece behind so many chronic health struggles.

Have you noticed your health gets worse when you’re stressed? 👀

We plan for retirement. We save for vacations. We work hard to build a life we love.

But how often do we stop to think about whether we’ll have the health to actually enjoy it?

The energy to play with our kids. The freedom to travel. The ability to wake up feeling good in our own bodies.

Health changes everything.

Don’t just plan for a long life. Build a healthy one worth living. 🤍

Is cutting carbs really the best way to fix insulin resistance?

Dr. Lori Rose says the low-carb-only approach isn’t backed by the science, and that supporting mitochondrial function is where the real work happens.

Your client wakes up at 3 a.m.

They’re exhausted by 2 p.m.

Their workouts aren’t working anymore. Their s*x drive has disappeared.

So you check their cortisol.

But what if cortisol isn’t the problem? What if it’s the CLUE? 👀

Here’s where practitioners need to think bigger.

One cortisol result can’t tell you how someone’s stress hormones fluctuate throughout the day.

And even a full hormone panel can’t tell you everything that’s influencing those patterns.

What about…

🦠 Gut infections and microbial imbalances?

🛡️ Intestinal barrier function and immune activity?

⚡ Metabolic health and oxidative stress?

🍽️ Food-related immune responses?

😴 Sleep and daily cortisol rhythms?

Your client’s hormones are ONE piece of the puzzle.

And if you’re only looking at hormones, you could be missing the very information that helps you understand why they’re struggling.

That’s why we’re bringing together 10 experts for FDN’s 5 Labs in 5 Days Practitioner Workshop, October 19–23.

Five functional labs. One complex case. Five days of learning how to connect the dots.

Plus daily Q&A and permanent replays.

“Your labs are normal.”

But you don’t FEEL normal.

Here’s what most people don’t realize. 👇

Your doctor’s lab ranges are primarily designed to help identify disease and medical abnormalities.

Functional health practitioners ask a different question: WHY don’t you feel great?

🔬 What’s happening with your hormones?
🦠 What about your gut health?
⚡ Your metabolic function?
🛡️ Your intestinal barrier?
🍽️ Your immune responses to food?

Because being within a reference range doesn’t automatically mean every system in your body is functioning optimally.

And if we’re only looking at whether a number is flagged HIGH or LOW, we could be missing important pieces of the puzzle.

Your symptoms are clues. Your labs are clues. The real skill is knowing how to connect them.

That’s exactly what we’re exploring during FDN’s 5 Labs in 5 Days Practitioner Workshop, October 19–23.

🎟️ 10 expert-led sessions. Daily Q&A. Permanent replays. And FREE access!

Your client’s hormones are only ONE piece of the puzzle.

And if your entire strategy revolves around balancing estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and cortisol...

What are you potentially missing?

🦠 Gut infections and microbial imbalances

🛡️ Intestinal barrier function and immune activity

⚡ Metabolic health and oxidative stress

🍽️ Food-related immune responses

😴 Daily cortisol patterns and sleep

Because these systems don’t operate independently.

And when you’re trying to solve a client’s hormone concerns without investigating the other systems that may be influencing them...

You’re not putting the puzzle together. You’re potentially leaving half the pieces on the table.

This is what separates collecting lab results from knowing how to interpret them.

🔬 During FDN’s 5 Labs in 5 Days Practitioner Workshop, we’re walking through a complex case using FIVE functional labs, showing you how experienced practitioners connect the findings.

10 expert-led sessions. Daily Q&A. Permanent replays.

Low testosterone in men isn’t always the whole story.

Fatigue, belly fat, muscle loss, low libido, and poor recovery can have multiple contributing factors. And simply finding low testosterone doesn’t necessarily explain WHY it’s low.

For health coaches and functional health practitioners, understanding the bigger picture is essential.
