Hello,
Training is in full swing here at Hurt Less Play More, and since you've been part of this journey, I wanted to share what's coming up — and more importantly, what it continues to teach me about keeping the body performing at every age.
THIS SUMMER'S LINEUP:
On June 21st, I'll be competing in an 18.4-mile Ruck event carrying a 45-pound pack — completing the course within 6 hours. It's a different kind of challenge that demands full-body durability, not just cardiovascular fitness.
In July, I'll be crewing my 9th Badwater 135 Ultramarathon — 135 miles through Death Valley in peak summer heat. No miles on my legs that weekend, but just as demanding mentally and physically for the crew.
Then in November, I toe the start line at the Route 66 100 Mile Ultramarathon on November 14th.
On a separate note — I am currently OPEN and accepting new athletes for one-on-one Run Coaching. Whether you are preparing for your first 5K or chasing a finish line at an ultramarathon, I work with runners at every level and every distance. WHAT TRAINING AT THIS LEVEL TEACHES ME EVERY SINGLE DAY:
The patients I see who move and feel the best long-term — regardless of age or fitness level — share one thing in common. They don't wait for something to break before they come in.
At 55, competing in events that would sideline most people isn't luck. It's the result of treating the body as a SYSTEM that requires consistent maintenance — not just crisis management. Mobility work, soft tissue care, spinal alignment, and recovery aren't luxuries. They are the reason I remain on the start line.
The same principle applies to every patient I treat, whether you're training for your first 5K, playing weekend golf, chasing grandkids, or simply want to move through your day without stiffness and pain slowing you down.
PROACTIVE CARE MEANS:
-Addressing small movement restrictions BEFORE they become injuries
-Maintaining tissue quality so the body RECOVERS faster and performs longer
-Keeping the nervous system, joints, and fascia working together — not fighting each other
-Building a body that holds up for decades, not just the next few months
