We continued on our Asana journey with sun salutations, Surya Namaskar.

In Sanskrit, Surya means sun and Namaskara means greeting or salute. The origins of Sun Salutations trace back to ancient India, where the sun has been revered as a vital source of energy and a divine being. Surya Namaskar began as a spiritual practice to express gratitude to the sun and was often performed at sunrise to honor its life-giving light.

In the early 20th century, yoga pioneers such as Krishnamacharya and Pattabhi Jois adapted the practice into the sequences we recognize today, using them as a way to prepare the body for deeper yoga practices.

Virabhadrasana: warrior pose
π™‘π™žπ™§π™–π™—π™π™–π™™π™§π™– was a legendary, mythical warrior.

Sati and Shiva were in love, but her father refused to accept it. She went to him and pleaded for his understanding, but he would not yield. Her sorrow turned to fury and she went up in flames before him. Shiva sent the great warrior to confront Sati’s father. He rose up from the pile of ashes (warrior 1), drew his sword to cut off his head (warrior 2), then picked it up to place it on a stake (warrior 3). A distraught and resurrected Sati was furious at her lover. Shiva saw how impetuous he had been and brought her father back to life.

The greatest battle we fight as warriors is sometimes against our own reactions. We may not always be perfect, but we can learn to make things right.

For Mother’s Day I got a birdfeeder with a camera! We’ve had nothing but hummingbirds so far, which I do not mind, because look at how beautiful they are.

I’m hopeful we’ll get other birds once they discover how refreshing my bird bath is. Put the word out for me…

First crocheting, then sourdough, now birds…I’m middle aging Κœα΄€Κ€α΄… and effectively.
