Let's talk sunscreen, sun exposure, and skin cancer. These may not be pleasant topics, but they are important. A single sunburn can be dangerous, but it’s the accumulation of exposure over time that increases your risk of developing skin cancer, the most common from of cancer in the United States. Reducing exposure to UV radiation lowers the risk of skin cancer. Although sunscreen is widely recognized as an effective strategy for preventing skin cancer, misconceptions and misinformation about its safety and efficacy continue to circulate, especially on social media. It gets confusing not knowing who to listen to or what to believe. If you have specific concerns or questions, please talk to Dr. Cozart or your dermatologist.
