Held July 29 at Tam O’Shanter Golf Course, the day was filled with great swings, a little friendly competition, plenty of laughs and even better company.

Thank you to the Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Tam O’Shanter Golf Course, the event organizers, volunteers and everyone who helped make the outing such a fun and memorable day.

Children undergo rapid brain development from birth through age 6. During this period, they pass through various “sensitive periods”... some of these opportunities don’t come twice.

So, neuroscientists from the UK (Mindlab International) did some research and determined that these 10 songs lower stress at a clinically significant level, with the number one song, "Weightless" (by Marconi), lowering stress in subjects as much as 65%. That's pretty remarkable.

The other nine tunes in the order of most relaxing are: "Electra" by Airstream, "Mellomanic" by DJ Shah, "Watermark" by Enya, "Strawberry Swing" by Coldplay, "Please Don't Go" by Barcelona, "Pure Shores" by All Saints, "Someone Like You" by Adele (Really??), and Conzonetta Sull'aria" by Mozart.

If you give these tunes a try, post your experiences. I'm curious. Not recommended that you drive while listening. (Adele?? Really??)

Facial action activates emotion. It also changes brain temperature - negative emotion (sad face) constricts breathing, raises brain temperature, and produces negative feelings. Positive emotion (smiling) enhances breathing, cools the brain, and produces positive feelings. Now you know why we somehow know to call people in perpetual bad moods "hot-heads."
Mini-experiment, make a sad face and notice that your nose position changes and your breathing constricts a bit. Now a smiling face, and notice that the raised cheek bones open up the nasal air flow. And yes, if you just smile, you will feel happier. And that finger and thumb thing ...wow! 👍

Stan Tatkin - #1 Rule When Arguing with Your Partner. I like that he brings attention to our brain...our "wiring." He says that we are "built for war" and not love - having an abundance of centers in our brain to pick up threat cues. I would have said that we are built for "survival" - with these scrawny bodies, blunt teeth, lack of speed, and no claws, we need our brains to navigate threat.
