Mary Marguerite Woolfolk, 64, passed away on May 28, 2026. Born on July 3, 1961, in Memphis, Tennessee, she lived a life marked by deep faith, heartfelt service, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Marguerite exemplified the spirit of a strong woman of faith and was a devoted member of Flag Lake Baptist Church, where she found joy not only in worship but also in singing at church and uplifting others through her kindness and compassion. Her commitment to helping those in need was evident throughout her life, touching countless lives with her generosity and warmth.

She held a Bachelor’s degree from Grand Canyon University and further advanced her education by earning a Master’s degree from Union University. Her professional journey was diverse and impactful: she served as an elementary school teacher, a travel agent, and as a case manager at the Baddour Center. Each role reflected her passion for service and her caring nature. Christmas was her favorite holiday as she enjoyed spending time with friends and family throughout the holiday season.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Marguerite was a passionate collector of dishes and other treasures, delighting especially in the thrill of yard sales. These interests were a joyful part of her everyday life and reflected her unique personality and zest for the little joys life offers.

Marguerite is lovingly survived by her husband of 39 years, Billy J. Woolfolk; her daughter, Sarah Frances Boyd; and her son, Winfield Woolfolk. She was a cherished grandmother to Zachary Boyd, Chance Boyd, Lee Boyd, Andrew Boyd, Abigail Boyd, Knox Boyd, Ben Barnes, Emerson Polk, Leon Woolfolk, and Reine Woolfolk, and great-grandmother to Arthur Boyd, Emberlyn Manza, Addilyn Boyd, Marceline Boyd, Eden Henderson and Mary Henderson, whose lives she enriched with her presence and love.

Also surviving Marguerite are her mother, Nancy Winfield Rainey; her brother, Searcy F. McGowen II, and his wife Karen; and her step-brothers, Earnest “Sonny” Heath II and his wife Druey, and Tim Heath and his wife Dawn. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and close friend Tammy Red, all of whom cherished her friendship and spirit.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her father, Searcy F. McGowen; step-mother, Peggy McGowen; step-father, Junior Lee Rainey; and step-sister, Pam Edwards. Her memory remains a blessing to all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday June 3, 2026 at New Bethlehem Cemetery located at 3961 Church Road in Nesbit, Mississippi begining at 2:00 p.m. A celebration of Mary Marguerite Woolfolk’s life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Flag Lake Baptist Church, located at 1628 MS-4, Sarah, Mississippi. This gathering will provide a time of remembrance and honor for a remarkable woman whose faith, love, and joy touched countless hearts.

Charles Michael Charnes, 68, affectionately known to many as Mike, passed away at his home in Hernando, Mississippi, on May 22, 2026. Born on February 3, 1958, in Memphis, Tennessee, Mike lived a life marked by dedication to family, career, and the outdoors he loved so dearly.

A proud graduate of First Assembly Christian School in Memphis, Mike went on to build a successful career as a co-owner of ACC Rebuilders, INC. in Memphis, a position from which he retired with great respect from colleagues and community alike. His professional life was defined by hard work and integrity, qualities he carried through every aspect of his life.

Mike’s passions extended beyond his career. He was an avid outdoorsman who cherished hunting and fishing, with a particular fondness for duck hunting. His love for travel often took him to the beach, where he found joy in the beauty of nature and the company of loved ones. More than anything, Mike was known as a master of the grill, delighting friends and family alike with his cooking—an art he practiced with pride and joy.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Denise Charnes; his daughter April Pumphrey and her husband Tony; sisters Judy Jackson and Peggy Markle; brother Larry Charnes and his wife Frances; grandchildren Mason and Molly; and his mother and father-in-law, Buddy and Carol Malone. Mike also leaves behind his cousins, Ronnie and Madeline Charnes, who helped raise him after losing his parents at an early age. He leaves behind his friends Paul Bryant and Bubba Jones, who treasured his friendship and companionship.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Charnes; his sister Birdie Montgomery; and his brother Clifford Charnes. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A visitation will be held on Saturday May 30, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Brantley Phillips Funeral Home, located at 2470 Hwy 51 S, Hernando, MS 38632. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. at the same location, where family, friends, and all who were touched by Mike’s life are invited to gather, share memories, and honor his legacy.

Charles Michael Charnes’s life was one of warmth, generosity, and steadfast love for family and friends. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the profound impact he made on those around him. May he rest in peace. Wyatt was welcomed into this world with great hope and love by his devoted parents, Leah and Clayton Kimberlin. He is lovingly remembered by his brothers, Wilder and Wells, who embraced the joy his arrival brought to their family. Judy Kay Murphy Laughter, 77, a beloved and strong woman of faith, passed away on May 13, 2026, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi. Born on February 12, 1949, in Hernando, MS, Judy lived a life marked by devotion to her family, deep compassion for others, and a loving spirit that touched all who knew her.

Judy was a retired property manager with many years of dedicated service at Fogelman Properties in Memphis, Tennessee. Throughout her career, she was respected for her professionalism and commitment, qualities that reflected her character in every aspect of her life. Known for placing the needs of others above her own, she exuded love and kindness, leaving a lasting impression on her family, friends, and community.

Judy's family was the cornerstone of her joy and purpose. She is survived by her devoted spouse, George Waldrop; her sons Warren Waldrop and Eric Waldrop, who is married to Olivia; and her siblings Jo Ann Gitter and her husband William, as well as Calvin Murphy and his wife Joan. Judy was also a beloved companion to Gracie, her faithful dog, and was surrounded by numerous nieces and nephews who held her in great affection.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband Donnie Laughter, her son Danny Joe Laughter, and her sisters Louise Allison, Pauline Johnson, and Lucille Dunlap. She also mourned the loss of her brothers James "Bo" Murphy, T.W. Murphy, and Ira "Sam" Murphy Jr., who now join her in eternal rest.

True to her nature, Judy wished for everyone to know she is now happy, free, and in Heaven with God. She felt profoundly blessed to have been part of her loving family and to have shared a life filled with love and faith.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Brantley Phillips Funeral Home, located at 2470 Hwy 51 S, Hernando, MS 38632. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the same location, offering family and friends an opportunity to celebrate Judy's remarkable life and legacy. Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery in Olive Branch, MS.

Scott built a commendable career as a locksmith, dedicating over two decades to the trade with various companies, most notably The Flying Locksmiths in Memphis, TN. His work reflected not only his skill but also his unwavering commitment to his craft.

Those who knew Scott remember him as a very kind individual. His mother would fondly recall that he was a very sweet baby, a testament to the gentle nature that remained with him throughout his life. He was a man who loved all his children deeply and cherished the bonds they shared.

Scott’s interests were as diverse as his talents. He had a profound love for music and enjoyed cooking and grilling, often bringing family and friends together around the table. An avid collector, he took pleasure in gathering numerous items that intrigued him. Furthermore, he found great joy and solace in hunting and fishing, passions that connected him with the natural world.

He is survived by his sons Asa Vanlandingham and Max Sanders, and his daughter Emma Eads. He is also lovingly remembered by his mother, Barbara Houston; his brother Michael Wright and his wife Gayle; his sisters Rae Marie Barnett and her husband Tim, and Nicole Hamilton; his grandchildren Aiden, Jase, Alyiah, and Emerson; Stephanie Paisley, mother of his sons as well as several nieces and nephews.

Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Amy Cain; his father, Joseph T. Houston; and his brother James Wright.

In reflecting on Scott’s life, the words of Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 offer a thoughtful perspective: "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Scott’s time with us may have concluded, but the impact of his love, kindness, and dedication endures in the hearts of his family and friends.

He also cherished his grandchildren, Joanna and Dianna, whose lives he enriched with his love and spirit.

John’s family extends to his brother, Michael Davis and his wife Laura, and his sister Lisa, who mourn alongside his immediate family in the profound loss of a remarkable man. He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell Taylor and Jo Ann “Penny” Taylor.

Alpha was the devoted wife of William "Irvin" Payne, to whom she was married for 66 years. Together, they built a life grounded in love and mutual respect. Though deeply mourned, Alpha is also remembered as the mother of the late Kathy Payne Ward.

Nell dedicated her career to nursing, specifically in hospice care, touching countless lives through her compassionate work at Baptist Hospice and Gentiva Hospice. Her care and kindness provided comfort during the most difficult times for many families, reflecting the deep empathy that defined her both professionally and personally.

A lifelong resident of Mississippi, Nell was graduated from Coldwater High School in Coldwater, MS, before earning her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Northwest Mississippi Community College. Her academic achievements laid the foundation for a meaningful career centered around healing and hope.

Family was the cornerstone of Nell’s life. She shared 55 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Thomas Chambers, who survives her. Together, they raised three daughters: Tammy McAlaster and her husband Justin of Hernando, MS; Tina Vokral of Sarah, MS; and Micheala Sexton of Arkansas. Nell’s legacy extends to her beloved grandchildren; Christina, Megan, Ethan, Logan, Kaitlyn, and Addison—and her great-granddaughter Lily, all of whom held a special place in her heart and referred to her as “NaNae”. She was remembered fondly for the joy and love she lavished on her family.

Nell also found joy in the small wonders of life. She loved hummingbirds, often enchanted by their delicate beauty, and took pleasure in a glass of ice tea as she passed the hours. A lover of reading, Nell’s thoughtful nature was reflected in the quiet moments she enjoyed with a good book. Her affection extended to all dogs, especially her own four-legged companions: Spanky, Prissy, Paisley, Maggie, and Max, who were cherished members of her household.

She is survived by her sister Judy Willard, and brothers Jimmy Lanier and his wife Melba, and Mike Lanier, who remain grateful for the memories they shared. Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Mancil and Gladys Lanier, and her sister-in-law, Jenni.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Brantley Phillips Funeral Home, located at 2470 Hwy 51 S, Hernando, Mississippi.
