🏈 The Nittany Lions have some new fans in their corner this season.

Earlier this week, Penn State cheerleaders brought some Nittany Lion spirit to Golisano Children’s Hospital, spending time with patients across three floors.

From bingo and learning a cheer to decorating megaphones, they gave our patients plenty of reasons to get in the game. 📣

Now we’ll be cheering them on when they take the field tomorrow! 💙🤍

❤️ What happens when patients, families and their care teams get together — outside the exam room?

Last month, our Congenital Heart Center hosted its first health fair, bringing together patients of all ages who live with congenital heart conditions and the families who support them.

Kids had the chance to learn more about their hearts and what it means to become more involved in their own care as they grow. Families connected with others who understand their experiences, and patients and providers had time to simply enjoy being together outside of a scheduled appointment.

It was a day to learn, connect and remind one another that no one has to navigate a congenital heart condition alone. 🫶

🍼 September is NICU Awareness Month.

For some families, bringing their baby into the world means beginning a journey they never expected — one filled with long days, uncertain moments and milestones that suddenly mean everything.

At Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital, our Level IV NICU cares for some of the region’s most fragile newborns, while dedicated teams care for the babies and families by their side.

Through Children's Miracle Network Hershey, the generosity of our community helps make a difference for these families in meaningful ways. That can include everything from upgrading our NICU AngelEye cameras, which help parents stay connected to their baby when they can’t be at the bedside, to other resources that bring comfort and connection during a difficult time.

Bring your little ones to the Little Lions Wellness Program next Thursday at the Farmers Market In Hershey for a fun afternoon of learning, playing and building healthy habits together.

This month’s “Roar & Explore Fitness Day” will help Little Lions get moving and stay strong through fun activities and hands-on education.

🐾 A little extra puppy love for National Dog Day. 💙

There’s something about seeing a dog in the hallway that can make an ordinary hospital day feel a whole lot brighter.

Our facility dogs have a special way of doing just that — whether they’re stopping by a patient’s room, offering some encouragement during a tough moment or simply making their rounds with their Child Life handlers.

They bring smiles. They bring comfort. And, sometimes, they’re exactly the distraction someone needs.

They show up for the big moments, the hard moments and all the little moments in between. And judging by the smiles they get along the way, they’re doing a pretty great job. 🐶

🦸‍♂️ Today’s forecast: 100% chance of superheroes.

Captain America, Spider-Man and Superman made their annual appearance at Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital this morning, rappelling down the side of the hospital to the cheers of our patients, families and staff.

For children spending time in the hospital, a visit from a favorite superhero can turn an ordinary morning into something pretty extraordinary. 💙

This special tradition is made possible by the volunteers from Harrisburg-based Vancena Property Service, who trade their window-washing gear for superhero suits and give their time to bring a little extra joy to our patients.

Their secret identities may remain classified, but we're pretty sure their superpower is making kids smile. ✨
