✨ What Do Cupping Colors Mean?

Cupping marks are not bruises. They’re a normal response to gentle suction and increased blood flow under the skin.

The color that shows up after your session gives us insight into what’s going on beneath the surface like how well blood is flowing or where tension or inflammation might be hanging out.

These marks don’t hurt and usually fade within a few days. Here’s what the colors can tell us:

Lack of Stagnation (No Change)
Usually very pale or blends with your natural skin tone. May show up when circulation is weak or energy is low. These areas might need more support like better blood or lymph flow.

Healthy Blood Circulation
Usually light pink or soft mauve.
A healthy response. This usually means good circulation and little to no stagnation. These marks fade quickly and show that your system is flowing well.

Red or Brown (Moderate Stagnation)
Often shows up as medium red, rusty brown, or reddish-purple. This color often means moderate stagnation. It shows up in muscles that are tight sore or overused.

Dark Purple or Deep Red (Severe Stagnation)
Usually deep maroon, wine-colored, or dark purple. These darker colors can mean old or stubborn stagnation. Places where your body has held onto tension or inflammation for a while. It may take a few sessions to fully clear out.

Excess Dampness (Possible Inflammation)
Speckled or dot-like, ranging from pink to brown. This can point to toxin buildup or lymph congestion. It means your body is trying to release what it doesn’t need through the skin.

Toxin Accumulation
Often blotchy, muddy red, or uneven dark shades. Usually linked to heat or inflammation. This can show up in areas of recent stress or injury. Your body is working to cool and repair that spot.

A Few Quick Things to Know:

• Darker marks often mean more stagnation
• Lighter marks usually mean better flow
• Cupping helps your body heal by increasing circulation easing tension reducing inflammation and supporting detox
• Marks fade in 3 to 7 days sometimes longer if more stagnation is present
