For the 3rd year in a row, our very own Funeral Director & Embalmer, Amanda Triplett, had the honor of painting the artwork featured on our Drum & Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home Balls Creek Camp Meeting fan.

For over 35 years, it has been our privilege to hand out fans during this special gathering, a tradition we are proud to continue each year.
Established in 1853 by the Methodist church, Balls Creek Camp Meeting has welcomed generations of worshippers and is now open to all denominations, continuing its rich legacy of faith, fellowship, and community.

We are grateful to be a small part of this treasured tradition and look forward to seeing so many familiar faces next week. If you receive one of our fans, we hope it not only helps keep you cool but also serves as a reminder of the enduring heritage and community spirit that make Balls Creek Camp Meeting so special.

Jackson Alexander Logan went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 23, 2026 in Pfafftown, NC, while visiting his Nana's family farm ("Rosewood"), which he lovingly called his "happy place."
Jackson was born on November 26, 1998 in Hickory, NC to Mark and Maria Logan. He was a 2017 graduate of Fred T. Foard High School and a 2021 Summa Cum Laude graduate of North Carolina State University. While at NCSU, Jackson became a proud member of Chi Psi Fraternity, establishing life-long friendships and serving as his chapter’s Academic Chair, Public Relations Chair, and Alpha Editor. He was also a member of the Order of Omega Honor Society and the Pre-Law Students’ Association. While at NCSU, Jackson developed a passion for the study of law and attended Wake Forest University’s pre-law classes the summer after his freshman year. He later served as an intern with the Trial Court Administrator’s Office and the NC Republican Party. His love for Raleigh truly ran deep, so much so, that he moved back there last year following a brief time out of state.
Jackson was accepted into the Wake Forest School of Law and began his academic career there in 2021, graduating with his Juris Doctor in 2024. While at Wake Forest, Jackson had the pleasure of serving on the Trial Team and the Wake Forest Journal of Business and Intellectual Property, Wake Forest Law Review, and in the Federalist Society. He also was privileged to serve as a judicial intern at the North Carolina Court of Appeals, as a law clerk at several different NC firms, and a summer associate in Orlando, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, David and Ethel Logan, and his maternal grandfather, Henry Andrews. Jackson is survived by his parents, Mark and Maria Logan, of Hickory; his brother, Grant Logan and his wife, Morgan, also of Hickory; and his Nana, Glenda Andrews, of Pfafftown, NC. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles (Kelly Upshaw, Gordon Logan, Krista Schuck, and Tim Schuck), cousins (Bronte Upshaw, Joe Upshaw, Amelia Upshaw, Matthew Logan, Logan Schuck, and Joshua Schuck), and many other close family members and friends, including Nancy Bowker, who Jackson considered his “adopted grandma.”
When his friends, supervisors, and co-workers heard of Jackson’s passing, he was described as a man of integrity, loyal, kind, easy-going, sweet, funny, welcoming, a team player, and truly one of a kind. Jackson was loved by all and will be forever missed!
A celebration of life honoring Jackson will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Providence Baptist Church in Vale, NC (7618 Providence Church Rd., Hickory, NC 28602) with Pastor Chris Dale officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00pm, with the service to begin at 3:00 pm.

Please join us in congratulating Rowyn Moore, a valued member of the Willis-Reynolds & Drum Funeral Homes family, on successfully completing Guardian ad Litem training and being officially sworn in as a Guardian ad Litem for Catawba County.
As a Guardian ad Litem volunteer, Rowyn will serve as an advocate for children involved in the court system, ensuring their voices are heard and their best interests are represented. This commitment reflects the same compassion, integrity, and dedication to serving others that we value every day at Willis-Reynolds & Drum Funeral Homes.

Doris Aileen Young Hughes, 92 of Hickory, passed away June 18, 2026, at Frye Regional Medical Center. She was born in Marion, NC to the late Claude Jennings Young and Vonnie Mae Biggerstaff Young. Doris is also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Harold Dean Hughes and sister, Elva Young Boyd.
Doris was a wonderful and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who was loved and admired by all.
After graduating from Marion High School, Doris moved to Washington, DC and worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. After moving to Hickory, Doris worked in the accounting department at Corning for many years where she retired. She is also a long-time member of Highland United Methodist Church in Hickory. Doris enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and playing word games on her phone. She loved her trips to the beach.
Doris is survived by her son, Larry Dean Hughes and wife Nancy, daughter, Rebecca H. Hardy and husband Charles, brother Ron Young and wife Ann Harkey, five grandchildren; Erin H. Cox and husband Ryan, Megan H. Kilby and husband Brent, Dr. Samuel K. Hughes and wife Elizabeth, Nicole H. Simmons and husband Taylor, Rachel H. Johnson and husband Avery and six great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Highland United Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 11:00 am with the Reverend Alan Ga***rd and Reverend Jim Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 –11:00 am prior to the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the We Care Fund, c/o Highland United Methodist Church, 1020 12th Street, Place NE, Hickory, NC 28601.
