Who else feels that this week has been the longest shortest week!?

Yesterday, I attended a funeral for someone who sadly lost their life to an overdose. They were only 19 years old. 💔

Nineteen.

A life that should have had so many more years, memories, milestones, and possibilities ahead.

We have to open our eyes and our hearts. We don’t need to turn our heads the other way. Addiction does not need more judgment. It does not need more shame.

Every one of us carries things that other people may know nothing about. Pain. Trauma. Depression. Anxiety. Grief. Loneliness. Sometimes people reach for drugs, alcohol, or other things hoping to numb that pain or escape it for just a little while.

But that temporary escape can come at an unimaginable cost.

If you are struggling with addiction, please don’t wait until tomorrow to ask for help. Ask today. There is no shame in needing help, and recovery is possible.
