June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month 💙
Mental health doesn’t discriminate by gender—but the way many men are taught to respond to emotional pain often does.
Here are a few statistics worth knowing:
▪️ Men are less likely than women to seek mental health treatment, even when experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, or stress.
▪️ Nearly 1 in 10 men experience depression or anxiety, yet many go untreated.
▪️ Men account for roughly 80% of su***de deaths in the United States, making su***de one of the most significant mental health concerns facing men today.
▪️ Many men report feeling pressure to “stay strong,” “push through it,” or handle problems on their own, which can make reaching out for support feel difficult.
The reality? Mental health struggles don’t always look like sadness.
Sometimes they show up as:
• irritability or anger
• withdrawing from loved ones
• working excessively
• increased substance use
• difficulty sleeping
• feeling numb, disconnected, or hopeless
Taking care of your mental health isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s a sign that you’re human.
This month, let’s continue challenging the idea that vulnerability is something to hide. Talking about emotions, asking for help, setting boundaries, and seeking support are all acts of courage.
If you’re struggling, you don’t have to carry it alone.
And if you’re supporting a man in your life, a simple check-in can go further than you think.
“How are you, really?” might be the conversation that opens a door.
