Before yoga was part of our mainstream exercise culture, Carol Ann Baker was healing her back and neck through personal practice, using yoga books, with no teacher or YouTube tutorial in sight. That quiet, determined practice didn't just transform her physical health... It changed her life. ✨ It allowed her to heal physically, but also to build relationships, find belonging, and discover a deep love for her fellow mankind. ❤️

Now as the manager of Pure Light Yoga, tucked inside High Point's beloved DeBeen Espresso, she brings that same spirit into every single class. 🌿

“My biggest goal here is to find ways to build communities,” Carol Ann says and she means it. From free classes to food drives, from book clubs to plant classes, there's something for every member of the community at Pure Light. 🙏

Whether you're brand new to yoga, dealing with creaky joints, or ready to level up — Pure Light has a class for you. More than that, it has a community waiting to welcome you.

Here’s Wendy’s June teaching schedule at Pure Light Yoga:

Tues, 4:30 pm: Stretch, Strengthen and Unwind
Thurs, 4:30 pm: Stretch, Strengthen and Unwind
Sat, 11:30 am: Yinasana
Sun,11:30 am: Active Flexibility
Sun, 3 pm: Yin Flow and Self-Care
Sun, June 21: Special moon salutations in both classes

The heart of summer, June is a big month for yoga. The International Day of Yoga falls on the summer solstice, traditionally celebrated with sun salutations malas. As well as being Father’s Day this year, and the year’s longest day, the solstice marks the ingress to the zodiacal sign of Cancer, the crab.

The month’s focus: Water sign poses!

Cancer is a water sign, as are Scorpio and Pisces. Summer is beach, lakeside, and pool time, and we step up the hydration. We're more aware of water. Let's splash around with yoga poses such as fish, crab, locust, turtle, frog, and more!

Plus for both classes on Sun, June 21, we'll practice moon salutations. Cancer is ruled by the moon, and it will be a nice complement to the day's traditional sun salutations. Move through the yang of 108 sun salutations, then chill out with the yin flow of moon salutations!
