Sadie Jefferson retired after an extraordinary 75-year career at the same pharmacy in Portrush, Northern Ireland, where she began working at just 15 years old in 1951. Despite multiple ownership changes over the decades, she remained a constant, warmly serving generations of local families—some spanning four generations—and building deep relationships with customers and colleagues alike.
She fondly recalled the demanding early days of preparing medicines by hand, but said it was always the people who kept her there. Known as a beloved and familiar face in the community, Sadie was also active in fundraising efforts, even completing skydives at age 80. As she steps away from the counter, she leaves behind a lasting legacy of dedication, kindness, and community spirit, with plans to stay active through local groups, gardening, and time with friends.
