The Town of Lloyd Lions Club were at the Highland Elementary School this week for a vision screening of the Kindergarten students. I referred a few students for a comprehensive vision exam and hopefully their parents will make that appointment soon. Financial assistance is available from the Lions. This morning I had the opportunity to speak to students at Highland High School about being a Doctor of Optometry as well as optometric assistant and optician occupations. In addition, I shared some knowledge about eye care research, contact lens development and frame design. The students and staff were very engaged with questions and comments about their personal eye care experience.

So proud that Essilor has selected us for providing their Stellest lenses. With advanced optics these lenses are designed for 6-16 year olds with progressive nearsightedness. Stellest lenses have been available in other countries for five years and have been shown to reduce the progression of myopia by 71%. Higher nearsightedness in childhood increases the risk of many eye diseases in adulthood.
