April 1st can be full of jokes, but when you’re in recovery, it’s important to protect your peace.
Not every environment or situation is the right place for pranks—and that’s okay.
If you’re early in your recovery, feeling emotionally vulnerable, or surrounded by people who may not fully understand your journey, it might be best to sit this one out. Recovery requires honesty, stability, and trust. Introducing confusion or “jokes” about serious topics can sometimes do more harm than good.
Pranking family or loved ones about something as serious as your sobriety, relapse, or treatment isn’t funny—it can break trust, trigger fear, and reopen wounds that took time to heal.
Instead, choose what supports your growth:
✔ Spend time with people who respect your journey
✔ Engage in activities that keep you grounded
✔ Set boundaries if something doesn’t feel right
It’s okay to laugh—but never at the expense of your progress.

And maybe it hasn’t looked the way you hoped.
Maybe progress feels slow.
Maybe you’ve stumbled, restarted, or are just now finding your footing.
But hear this: you are not behind.
You are in it.
The falling leaf is not failure—it’s release.
