😂💦 WHO GAVE THE ELDERS WATER BALLOONS?! 💦🍦 We had an absolute BLAST at today’s car wash! 🦽🧽💦 Our elders came through the water, enjoyed some delicious ice cream, and soaked up every minute of the fun! 🍦😎 Then somebody made the questionable decision to give the elders water balloons and sq**rt guns… and let’s just say, THE ELDERS KNEW EXACTLY HOW TO USE THEM! 🎯💦🤣 Staff quickly realized they weren’t running the car wash anymore—they were the TARGETS! 😂 We even had a community member and his dog stop by to participate in the fun! 🐶💦 And of course, Dr. Atkins and Nurse Dusti made an appearance and got their cars washed too. 🦽🧼 Between the water fights, car washing, ice cream, and nonstop laughing, it was a pretty perfect day at Dawson Place! ❤️ Moral of the story: Never underestimate an elder with a sq**rt gun… especially when they’ve had ice cream! 😂💦🍦

Who says pen pals went out of style? 💌❤️

The elders at Dawson Place recently teamed up with Amanda K. Stinemetz-D’Alessandro, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of English at Fort Hays State University, and her English Composition students for the Human Storytelling and Life Sharing Activity: Written Letters Project.

Our elders had an absolute blast reading letters from the college students, learning about their cultures, childhoods, dreams, and future plans. In return, the college students got a front-row seat to some incredible life stories, wisdom, and memories from our elders. Let’s just say… our elders may have won the “best storytellers” award! 😊

Who knew a stamp and a piece of paper could build friendships across generations? It turns out that while the college students may have taught our elders a little about today’s world, our elders reminded the college students where many of life’s greatest lessons come from.

A huge THANK YOU to Amanda K. Stinemetz-D’Alessandro, Ph.D., her amazing students at Fort Hays State University, and our wonderful Activity Director, Laura Marcotte, for helping make this project such a meaningful success. These letters may have been written on paper, but they left lasting memories in all of our hearts. ❤️📬

When Dawson Place Goes to the Fair… We Go ALL IN! 🎡☀️🏆

It was only 107 degrees, so naturally our amazing staff thought, “Perfect day to decorate a float!” 😂🥵 After sweating, decorating, sweating some more, and questioning all of our life choices… the float was ready! 🎉

Then came our brave Dawson Place elders, who decided that 107 degrees was NOT going to stop them from having a good time! They climbed aboard, cruised through the parade, and apparently decided the staff needed a little cooling off… with water balloons and water guns! 💦🔫😂

Because nothing says “We appreciate you” quite like getting completely soaked by the very elders you’re trying to keep cool! 🤣

After the parade, we headed down to the fair to check out all the amazing exhibits, enjoy the sights, and make some memories together. And then came the best news of all…

🏆 DAWSON PLACE TOOK FIRST PLACE FOR OUR FLOAT! 🏆

So, to recap: We survived 107-degree float decorating, got attacked with water balloons, braved the heat, explored the fair, and came home with FIRST PLACE!

Way to go, Dawson Place elders and staff! We sure know how to have FUN! ❤️

🐱💕 BREAKING NEWS FROM DAWSON PLACE: The elders have officially been taken over by a gang of tiny, fluffy, four-legged troublemakers! 😂🐾

The kittens came to visit, and suddenly everyone had a new best friend, a smile on their face, and absolutely NO interest in giving the babies back! 😻❤️

There were cuddles, giggles, and enough “Awww, look at that baby!” to last all day. 🥰

Turns out, kittens are just like our elders… they both know exactly how to get attention, steal your heart, and convince you to give them whatever they want! 😂🐱❤️

Tiny paws, big purrs, and hearts full of love—just another perfect day at Dawson Place! 🐾💕
